A simple exposition, from the heart, about Psalm 6. We must pray like this psalm! We must cultivate weeping, expectation, and impatience! Yes, patience is a high virtue, but we get there by being IMPATIENT in prayer, as the psalm shows. Made with Monster man! ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khxypKbkYSM

The church's prayer teaches us with flagrant honesty about ourselves and God. It is full of compulsion and repentance and promises, which we make to Him in our prayer. We use the troparion of the prophecy from the 6th Thursday of Great Lent, at the 6th hour, to illustrate these points.

Parable of the Rich Young Man. Jesus reveals the essence of the greatest commandment — to love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, and strength — as an imperative to abandon our own desires to follow Him, which is to be in His presence.

The healing of the paralytic is our healing because we are paralytics. He waited for a healing that occurred once a year, but we receive our healing through baptism and our subsequent efforts to be healed. We must want to be healed. Therefore we must answer our Lord’s question of the paralytic: “Yes!” - by our actions and our priorities. And we must notice the multitude of which we are among. If we don’t notice and care for the multitude we will not be healed. A homily given at the “Seeker of the Lost Orthodox Church” in North Little Rock when I was serving so that the Carder family could get some much-deserved rest.

NM Athanasios made his glorious witness 01-07-1700, after he was overheard saying something that sounded to the Moslems to be part of their confession of faith. He was therefore dragged before the judge, threatened, imprisoned, tortured, and eventually beheaded. Life isn’t always fair. We should not expect it to be fair. We moderns have this character defect that we expect our politicians and other worldly people to be fair. Let’s stop expecting our society to be fair, and let’s start living true Christian lives, be ready for whatever might happen.

This homily is a synthesis of the two Gospel selections we read in liturgy and some experiences of Fr Seraphim, when he venerated Holy Iviron icon of Hawaii which was present the past two days for the feast of our sister parish: “Holy Mother of God Orthodox Church”, in Georgetown Texas. We bring together many things including the greatest achievement (miracles) of the Mother of God when people venerate her holy icons, the terrible confusion of our day when people are terrible confused about where and Who Jesus Christ is, when we talk about the incredulity of the Jewish ruling elite they heard Jesus preach in the synagogue: “And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?” No Christian should ask that question because they should know who Jesus is but we know only if we live according to the Spirit, and not according to secular life. This day is also the commemoration of the Holy Equal to the Apostles and Proto-martyr Thekla, and the reading for is a very common reading for women martyrs, about the 10 virgins. Only five achieve the greatest achievement the human being can have in this world, which is also the greatest of the martyrs. We talk about this achievement, how to be sure about how to live our life and not be confused. In the midst of our discussion, we mention the medical and social confusion of our day regarding sickness, and unfortunately some will focus only on these words, but we cannot understand anything without achieving that which we are called to, and the person who has this great gift is not confused about anything in life.

What is the Dormition, and does this feast apply to *us*? It is impossible to understand the incarnation and the resurrection without understanding the role of Mary. Why do we believe the Dormition is true? How was the bible written? Why do we call Mary the Theotokos? Exegesis of the Magnificat, which is partially read on feasts of Mary, the Theotokos.
