Explore the interior of the Guardian Tree and you’ll encounter a quartet of crystals. Each crystal has its own element consisting of fire, water, wind, and earth. The one representing fire will unleash a swirling barrage of fire. The Crystal representing water will unleash a wide stream of water. After 2 Buzzy Beetles, go up the pipe. There are music note blocks all over the place. Ascend by some Koopas and you’ll find the first A Coin. After a flame chomp, you’ll find the 2nd A Coin. The 3rd A Coin is far right by the wall at the very top of the room. Go up the pipe and you’ll find the goal.

The former Battle Castle employer uses a full team of Psychic type Pokémon. In Challenge Mode, Alakazam replaces Sigilyph. Musharna will lead off with Reflect to weaken physical attack damage for 5 turns. It has a combo of Hypnosis, Charge Beam, and Dream Eater. For Alakazam, it will use Charge Beam to power up sometimes and Focus Blast to devastate Steel and Dark types. Gothitelle will use Flatter to confuse foes and Thunderbolt to paralyze them. Gallade has 3 different moves that can cause critical hits and Close Combat that costs both Defense stats when hitting. Reuniclus will use Thunder to paralyze opponents and Recover when in danger. Moves like Night Slash and Flamethrower work best for this battle.

After defeating a few cobras and crows, touch the egg to release a fairy and you’ll romp your way through the snails. Further down the road, there are campfires and small rocks. Defeat more crows coming on sight and cross over some more campfires. After seeing a cobra, rocks will roll downhill before more cobras are at the next path. Going from landing to landing can be tough, so make sure your position and timing is correct to proceed. Cross with the moving platforms and you’ll reach the goal.

After completing your mission at Silph Co. and getting all the other 7 gym badges, return to Viridian City and enter the gym. This gym has a maze with items and arrow tiles that make you spin. You’ll battle a few trainers as you navigate the maze. Once you solve the maze, you’ll take on Giovanni once more. Giovanni uses Ground type Pokémon. Dugtrio has great Speed and will use Dig to avoid attacks the first turn then strike the next turn. Nidoqueen will use Body Slam to paralyze targets while Nidoking will use Thrash to repeat for 2-3 turns then become confused. Rhydon knows Horn Drill and Fissure, both of each move that takes an opponent down in one hit but doesn’t work if a target is faster. After winning, you’ll receive the Earth Badge and a TM27 (Fissure). Fissure is a Ground type move that takes an opponent down in one hit but won’t work against faster targets.

The first floor has balls orbiting. Go up the pipe to the 2nd floor and you’ll see Thwomps. Go up the next pipe to the outside of the castle. Garbage blocks are everywhere and some bounce around. Go up the next pipe where you’ll see spikes with a Thwomp and ball orbiting. Go up 2 more pipes and you’ll be at the top of the tower. Hit the block to reveal the vine and go up the pipe to finish.

As you explore Route 5, you’ll see a mob blocking the way towards the Driftveil Drawbridge. Battle this cyclist who will introduce you to a Triple Battle, where 3 Pokémon can inhabit the field during battle. Sigilyph will use Light Screen to weaken special attack damage for 5 turns and Air Cutter for critical hits. Archen will use Quick Guard to protect its team from first strike moves along with Pluck to steal berries from foes. Tirtouga will use Aqua Jet to strike first and Wide Guard to protect its team from moves that strike multiple opponents. After the battle, cross the Driftveil Drawbridge.

Drake uses Dragon type Pokémon. In this version, one Flygon is replaced with Kingdra. Shelgon will sometimes use Protect to avoid attacks then Rock Tomb to lower the target’s Speed stat. Altaria will use Dragonbreath to paralyze targets. It will also combo by using Dragon Dance then Double-Edge. Kingdra will first use Dragon Dance to power up, Body Slam to paralyze opponents, and Smokescreen to make them less accurate. Salamence is one of the pseudo-600 club Pokémon that will use Rock Slide to make targets flinch and Flamethrower on Steel and Ice types. A move like Dragon Claw will work best for this round.

After beating the Elite Four, watch TV at home in Littleroot Town that will tell about a certain Pokémon roaming the Hoenn region. Look all over the Hoenn routes to search for this Pokémon. If you find what the news told about, the Pokémon is identified to be Latias. Latias is on Level 40. Roaming Pokémon flee on the first turn when encountering them. Keep checking your Pokédex to get a location of the roaming Pokémon and it will change route if you change areas. If you still have the Master Ball, it would be the time to use it. If not, use any Pokémon that knows Mean Look to prevent the Pokémon from getting away then use Ultra Balls. Latias has a signature move called Mist Ball, having a 50% chance of lowering the target’s Special Attack stat.
