Today we are headed back around Lake Mead so we can bring you a follow up to our viewer favorite BOAT WRECK HUNT video! We will be visiting several of the boats you all know and love from the first video, and going to check out some new finds that weren’t accessible on foot before. While we explore these drought discoveries, we will also compare them to previous shots from earlier in the year. Included is water level data at the time of making this video (December 10th) and a recap of Lake Mead's plunge throughout 2022.

This remaining railway portion outside Boulder City Nevada was once used to haul supplies to the "Boulder Canyon Project" aka HOOVER DAM back in 1931. The carts are provided by @railexplorers and are tandem e-assisted pedal drive. What a fun time we had cruising along this historic Union Pacific spur with the wind and cadence of the rail joints clanking along!

A cold front that slammed Northern California the night before made it up and over the Sierra's into Nevada on January 30th. As it moved east, it dropped rain throughout the night around the Las Vegas Valley. By morning, the extreme cold carried by the front caused snow to fall at elevations as low as 2,500 feet! This is a rare occurrence for this part of the valley. Many areas got a heavy serving of snow that continued into the mid-morning. The weather system causing the unusual cold originated from Canada according to meteorologists.
We then left elevation and went down to the lake to see if it was receiving any unusual weather today. There was heavy precipitation and wind throughout the morning down at the lake as well. In the distance you can observe the Virgin Mountains with a fresh blanket of snow.

It's so relaxing watching all the Earth mud wash away and reveal Mother nature's true colors! In this batch we have a tumbler full of extra material collected around copper deposits in Nevada. You can see the wonderful greens of malachite and blues of azurite mixed in with the quartz and rhyolite. These colorful secondary minerals are produced as water seeps through copper deposits over time and leeches the solution into other host rock, giving them the distinct patinas you may be used to seeing on ornamental copper.
