17 Days Solo Wilderness Vlog Adirondacks [part 2 of 4]
I'm now very alone deep into the wilderness, travelling through amazing scenery by kayak, the silence is deafening, the views blinding and my awe is inspiring, i reflect on the journey so far and plan my next steps

Part 2 of 4 of my solo adventure paddling a kayak and wild camping in the Adirondack State Park
I am aware that some people sometimes find my strong northern England accent and dialect difficult to understand, because of this i have added an optional subtitles track in plain English
The River Tyne has so many magnificent bridges, true spectacles viewed from the land and to cross over, but until you've went under them in a kayak you've hardly seen the half of it, come with us and see the spectacle of architecture through the ages, 3 cameras, 2 mad Geordie blokes in 2 kayaks under seven bridges, the bridges you will see in this video like you've probably never seen them before are;-
Gateshead Millennium Bridge - 2001
Tyne Bridge - 1928
Swing Bridge - 1876
High Level Bridge - 1849/50
Metro Bridge - 1981
King Edward Bridge - 1906
Redheugh Bridge - 1983
Scotswood Bridge - 1967
Some serious design and architecture eye candy going on here covers 170 years of cutting edge bridge designs, plus two dapper Geordie blokes doing all the paddling.
Here in Newcastle it was the heart of the Victorian Industrial Revolution, George Stephenson the man who pioneered one of the many early steam locomotives lived up river about 6 mile from our launch point, in the video you'll see many relics along the river from this era, some preserved and some just there left to the ravages of time and others running like they wee built yesterday but instead hundreds of years old almost untouched.
We are in the tidal salt water part of the River Tyne, as we enter the water it's about 90 minutes from high tide.
The bridges over the Tyne between Newcastle and Gateshead are justifiably famous. They are not merely bridges, but icons for the North East. Over the years the single (Georgian) bridge existing in the early Victorian period has been joined by six others. First the High Level Bridge, giving the river its first railway crossing, then the Swing Bridge (replacing the Georgian bridge), and the first Redheugh Bridge, replaced twice, to be followed by the King Edward Bridge and the most famous of them all, the new Tyne Bridge.
After many decades came the Queen Elizabeth Metro Bridge and finally, in 2001, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge opened to provide a stunning pedestrian and cycle link between the redeveloped quaysides on either side of the river. In the space of less than a mile seven bridges link Newcastle with Gateshead.
Further upstream are bridges at Scotswood and Newburn, the old Chain Bridge at Scotswood being one of the oldest until replaced in 1967. A major tributary, the Derwent, flows into the Tyne on its south bank near Swalwell.
The 'Coaly Tyne', as it was called because of its domination by the coal trade, has also seen shipyards like Swan Hunters, Hawthorn Leslies and Readheads, great engineering works like Reyrolles, Parsons, Clarke Chapmans and Armstrongs as well as a host of smaller enterprises along its banks making all manner of things.
It is a stunning morning and the blackbirds are always first on the scene, especially so if i have put out fresh water in the baths just before sunrise, enter the mind of this bird as she comes across this crisp fresh clean water source first thing on a morning and decides to take a bath, she thinks she is done but has to pop back in for a bit more, we've all had morning showers like that one.
Sometimes when you love something so much you can do it all day long, and suffer for the effort of it for the next few days and smile in every achy moan and groan, this is me with kayak surfing, come join me in this never before shared day out that I shot and edited during the time of my Youtube channel getting murdered, it was completed just as my Youtube was terminated and never got uploaded anywhere.
3 cameras, 2 sit on top kayaks and 2 crazy middle aged dudes just mad enough to fuck around and find out, in all walks of life.
Camp fire cooking premium filet steak, It is raining cats and dogs down on the shores of Loch Trool and Buchan Burn where we set up a wild camp with just a few tarps, just because we are roughing it doesn't mean that we can't dine in style.
Tonight it is small end beef tenderloin (filet de bœuf) done to perfection over the camp fire pit, the rain is lashing the tarps as the water thunders out of Mount Merrick down Buchan Burn past our camp into Loch Trool, what an awesome trip, full video of the trip is now live.

In the Old Town Katahdin canoe exploring all of Little Forked Lake in the Adirondack State park on 15th October 2016, this video covers day six of my Adirondack trip of seventeen days in the Adirondack wilderness, from day seven I am alone.
English Subtitles now available in the options menu
In this video me and my father paddle around the coast of Little Forked Lake, taking plenty of time for fishing and appreciating the stunning scenery, we make our way as far as we can hoping to access Plumley Pond by water.
This is the third video in a series chronicling my 2016 Adirondack adventure, after this video my father had to head back home, thankfully he was able to relocate me and my canoe and kit to a different area, all videos in this series from this point will be from my solo adventure, plenty more to come so hit subscribe and turn on the notifications, I never spam you will only get a notification when I post a new video.
I have no idea how long this video series will be as I am just working my way through the hours of raw video I shot.
This year I spent 3 weeks wild camping in the Adirondack State Park in the USA, this time I was not always alone, firstly I was joined by my father for a week, then he had to leave but first he was able to relocate me and my canoe and kit, after a week alone in a different area I met up with and was joined by several people I originally met on the website Bushcraft USA, finally I was again met by my father for the last couple of days, this series of videos tries in somewhat to tell that story.
In the 3 weeks I was only alone for 5 days but it was still a really great trip, I met many brilliant people on this adventure.
All videos will be edited in chronological sequence just as they were filmed, I am doing this for a natural feeling in the hope of taking you the viewer along for the journey, almost every time I was recording it was with at least two cameras simultaneously pointing in different directions.
Plain English Subtitles now available for all videos where I speak.
It is harder than I would think sometimes translating my slang and colloquialisms into plain English

The journey is the epic adventure when we canoe, it is not about the destination, it's about all the things we see and do that happen along the way, so sit back and escape with me and my Dad to the breath taking wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York, USA, in this near real time adventure.
Big long takes between cuts and all natural sounds to take you along with me on this amazing day out in almost real time, so if you are stuck indoors right now this video is going to be like pure spirit medicine for the soul.
I normally only make videos like this for myself, in my early Youtube days I made videos to upload that thought my audience would have an attention span greater than a goldfish, they did not go down well, any longer than 10 seconds without a cut or change of scenery and they'd just skip ahead, so I would chop up my huge expansive videos into attention grabbing constant scene changing on screen style videos as advised by Youtube.
I am sharing this one here this original long format (Directors cut) to preserve the memories and enable my family around the world to enjoy this with me and hopefully help us all remember my Dad in a place he truly loved to spend his life.

I edited this video a couple hours after hearing he was gone as I was trying to work through my feelings and rationalise some of my irrational life choices to myself.
I'll be back soon folks I just need to work through things and process this and give it the time and attention it needs, please bear with me if you posted a question or comment somewhere online and I haven't got back to you yet, it's nothing personal.
I need to learn so much about myself and about life itself from this, these painful self inflicted injuries contain many lessons that I don't ever want to have to repeat by forgetting how I got them.
You never know which words will be the last words you ever share.
