The winners of the higher-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ include the 2023 Audi Q4 e-tron, the 2023 Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, the 2023 Audi Q8, the 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron and the 2024 Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron. (Because only the name was changed and the vehicles are otherwise identical, the accolades for the 2024 Q8 e-trons also apply to the 2023 e-tron and 2023 e-tron Sportback.)
The two winners of the lower-tier TOP SAFETY PICK award are the 2023 Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback.
To qualify for either IIHS award in 2023, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front and original moderate overlap front tests and come equipped with acceptable or good headlights across all trims.
For TOP SAFETY PICK, an acceptable or good rating in the updated side test is required, and a front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating in the daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluation must be available.
For TOP SAFETY PICK+, a good rating in the updated side test as well as advanced or superior ratings in both the daytime and nighttime pedestrian tests are necessary.
Among the vehicles that meet all the requirements for the “plus,” the Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron come with standard front crash prevention systems that earn advanced ratings in both the daytime and nighttime pedestrian tests. The standard crash avoidance systems on the Q8, Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron earn daytime ratings of superior and nighttime ratings of advanced.

The Škoda Octavia and Superb are available with 4×4 drive in both saloon and estate versions and with petrol or diesel engines; the outputs range from 110 kW (150 hp) to 206 kW (280 hp). The four-wheel drive versions of both the Karoq and Kodiaq SUV series transmit 110 kW (150 hp) to 180 kW (245 hp) to all four wheels and are available with either diesel or petrol engines. All Škoda’s all-wheel-drive ICE vehicles are equipped with a 7-speed DSG
transmission. Rounding off the brand’s 4×4 portfolio, the 80x (195 kW) and RS (220 kW) versions of the all-electric Enyaq iV family each feature two electric motors.
Škoda’s modern 4×4 drives ensure optimal traction at all times, not only in wintry weather, on snow or icy roads. Linked directly to the driver assistance systems, they respond to changes in road conditions within milliseconds. Volkswagen ID.4 - Mid-Size Electric Crossover | Interior and Tech First Look | Motor Continent
Volkswagen has significantly enhanced the cockpit landscape of the ID.4 and ID.5. The focus here was on intuitive operation. Against this background, both product lines have received brand new latest-generation software which is much faster and offers more functions. In addition, both models are equipped with a new standard infotainment system with a screen diagonal that has been increased to 32.8 centimetres (12.9 inches). The infotainment system impresses with a completely new menu structure while the Digital Cockpit (digital instruments as standard) and the optional augmented reality head-up display have been enhanced. Touch sliders for the air conditioning and volume control are now illuminated and the multifunction steering wheel with new operating logic is also new. Furthermore, Volkswagen has removed and separated the driving mode selector from the housing of the Digital Cockpit and designed it as a steering column switch – like in the ID.7. This creates space for the larger infotainment display. Operation of the ID.4 and ID.5 is made easier by the new IDA voice assistant, which responds more precisely than in the past to natural voice commands and offers new functions including cloud-based weather information and the status of sporting events or stock market prices, which can be queried via IDA. Volkswagen also offers a new premium sound system from Harman Kardon with 480 Watts of music output and 10 speakers (including centre speaker and subwoofer) as an option for both models.

The new MINI family is taking shape. The British brand presents the MINI Concept Aceman, an initial preview of its future model generation’s new design. In this concept car we can see design-based and technological innovations from MINI that outline the brand-typical driving pleasure of the future. The first MINI crossover model for the premium small cars segment is striking, with purely electric drive, a clear and pared-back design language that has been dubbed “Charismatic Simplicity”, a new digital interior space experience and a material concept which uses absolutely no leather or chrome.
The clear and reduced exterior and interior design, the holistic user experience of light, movement, interaction and sound also combine to define this style. Surfaces constructed from knitted recycled textile with fresh colour contrasts combine with seamless digital controls with a new OLED display as the central interface. This all creates a unique interior experience that remains unmistakably MINI. The all-electric models of the next generation are also given an independent sound design for the first time, providing emotionally compelling drive sounds and an authentic background for the new Experience Modes.
Everything about the appearance of MINI Concept Aceman expresses agility and a self-confident presence. This merges distinctive features of the brand’s two most successful models, the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman, to create a modern interpretation of a crossover model.
“The purely electric vehicle concept means the design can again be geared more towards MINI’s traditional basic values, in terms of the principle of using space creatively,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. “This creates models that take up little space on the road while offering even more comfort, more versatility and more emotion on the inside than ever before.”
A functional two-box design with short overhangs creates the maximum of space for occupants and luggage on a minimal surface area. The MINI Concept Aceman has four doors and a large boot lid with interior seating for five.
It also has the proportions you would expect of the brand with an exterior length of 4.05 metres, a width of 1.99 metres and a height of 1.59 metres, all in a particularly contemporary form. The classic three-way division of body, all-round window graphics and roof is reinterpreted. A flush transition between the vehicle body and glass surfaces makes the most of the aerodynamic properties. The clear and reduced design of the MINI Concept Aceman completely dispenses with the chrome trim around the edges that was common in earlier model generations. Wide surrounds on the lower edge of the body, strongly contoured wheel arches, large wheels, a striking roof rack, and front and rear valance panels styled as an underride protection emphasise the solid all-round characteristics of a crossover model for urban driving fun.

The passenger compartment of the 2 Series Active Tourer remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy numbers demonstrated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. BMW showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to drivers of different sizes and to those sitting in different positions but that structures in the dashboard might present a risk of injury to the outboard leg of differently-sized front passengers. Analysis of the deceleration of the impact trolley during the test, and analysis of the deformable barrier after the test, revealed that the 2 Series Active Tourer would be a moderately benign impact partner in a frontal collision. In the full-width rigid barrier test, chest protection was rated as marginal for both the driver and the rear passenger, with good protection of other critical body areas. In the side barrier test, protection of all critical body areas was good and the car scored maximum points. In the more severe side pole impact, protection was also good except for that of the chest, which was rated as adequate . Control of excursion (the extent to which a body is thrown to the other side of the vehicle when it is hit from the far side) was found to be adequate. The 2 Series Active Tourer has a counter-measure to mitigate against occupant to occupant injuries in such impacts. The system performed well in Euro NCAP’s test, with good protection of occupants’ heads. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric analysis of the rear seats also indicated good whiplash protection. The 2 Series Active Tourer has an advanced eCall system which alerts the emergency services in the event of a crash. The car also has a system which applies the brakes after an impact to avoid secondary collisions.
The 2 Series Active Tourer has an ‘active’ bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the surface of the bonnet to provide greater clearance to the stiff structures in the engine compartment. BMW showed that the system was capable of detecting various pedestrian statures over a range of speeds and, accordingly, the car was tested in the raised, ‘deployed’ position. Head protection on the bonnet surface was almost entirely good, with poor results recorded at the base of the windscreen and on the stiff windscreen pillars.. The bumper offered good protection to pedestrians’ legs but protection of the pelvis region was mixed. The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system of the 2 Series Active Tourer can respond to vulnerable road users, as well as to other vehicles. The system performed well in tests of its response to pedestrians and cyclists, with collisions avoided in most scenarios.

A seatbelt reminder system is fitted as standard to the front and rear seats and the car has a system to detect driver fatigue. The lane support system gently corrects the vehicle’s path if it is drifting out of lane, and also intervenes in some more critical situations. The speed assistance system detects the local speed limit and the driver can choose to allow the maximum speed of the car to be automatically set by the system.

The 2023 Chrysler 300C honors the 300 model with a special, limited-production run — only 2,000 units will be offered in the U.S. with another 200 available in Canada.
The 6.4L V-8 HEMI engine makes the final version of America’s big, bold sedan even bigger and bolder, generating 485 horsepower and 475 lb.ft. of torque and driving the 300C from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds. The 2023 Chrysler 300 can cover the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 160 mph.
The 392-cu.-in., naturally aspirated engine is paired with a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that optimizes fuel economy while offering maximum performance with 160-millisecond shifts. Additional performance features include red four-piston Brembo brakes, a 3.09 limited slip differential, active damping suspension and black, rounded exhaust tips that accent an active exhaust system that delivers a muscular, throaty sound.
A new iteration of the tri-color 300C badge dresses up the exterior on the grille and rear decklid, and the 300C rides on 20-by-9-inch forged wheels with all-season performance tires. The exterior carries black chrome accents on the grille and lower fascia, plus black headlamp and taillamp bezels. Three exterior colors are available for the 300C: Gloss Black, Velvet Red and Bright White.
Inside, black Laguna leather front seats are embossed with the new 300C logo and further accented with unique silver stitching. Silver stitching also reaches the doors and leather instrument panel, with carbon fiber and Piano Black touches on the interior bezels.
The 300C packs a premium 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and the 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, comes standard. Advanced brake assist, Lane Departure Warning Plus and Full Speed Collision Warning Plus are just a few of the standard safety features, while comfort features include a heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats.

New Lamborghini Revuelto | The First V12 Hybrid HPEV Super Sports Car | Motor Continent
Automobili Lamborghini presents Revuelto, the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle). Revuelto defines a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture; innovative design; maximum-efficiency aerodynamics; and a new carbon frame concept. An output of 1015 CV is delivered from the combined power of an entirely new combustion engine together with three electric motors, alongside a double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini for the first time.
The powertrain combines high specific power elements: the new 127 CV/liter combustion engine works synergically with two front axial flux motors that deliver an outstanding weight-to-power ratio, with a radial flux electric motor positioned above the first eight-speed double-clutch gearbox debuting on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini. The three electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion high specific power (4500 W/kg) battery pack that also supports a fully-electric drive mode.
Revuelto brings the future of Lamborghini design to the road today. It stays constant to the exclusive Lamborghini design DNA but establishes an entirely new stylistic language. It links with the iconic and legendary Lamborghini V12 cars of the past throughout the new shape, while the new proportions open the door towards the future.
While Revuelto delivers a quantum leap in an all-new car design, both externally and internally, the inspiration of previous V12 legends is still clear. Starting with the 1971 Countach prototype and its perfect proportions developed on a single longitudinal line, this car was responsible for creating a pure and essential style contextualized in the Space Age era. It defined the Lamborghini V12 super sports car DNA and introduced one of the most distinctive Lamborghini V12 elements: the vertically-opening scissor doors, which contribute to creating the character of Revuelto.
Function and style share a singular mission on the Lamborghini Revuelto: aerodynamic efficiency. The new layout of the super sports car has different design requirements compared to the Aventador, which influenced the car’s aerodynamic development. The development was based on four pillars: efficiency; synergy between the components; integration between the components; and design.
The car showcases an unprecedented layout and powertrain: the naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 mid-mounted engine is complemented by three electric motors, one of which is integrated into the new double-clutch eight-speed gearbox. This is mounted transversely and placed for the first time behind the combustion engine. In what has been the transmission tunnel since the days of the Countach, there is a lithium-ion battery instead, which powers the electric motors.
The electric motors boost power delivery at low revs and can also turn the new Revuelto into a purely electric car, reducing overall CO2 emissions by 30% compared to the Aventador Ultimae.
The Revuelto introduces an unprecedented hybrid architecture and a new generation of V12. The car is launched as the very first High Performance Electrified Vehicle - HPEV: a plug-in hybrid super sports car equipped with a lightweight high-power lithium ion battery, housed within the transmission tunnel in the central section of the chassis. It’s an innovative solution, designed to reduce emissions compared to the previous V12 while maximizing performance.
The new L545 engine has a capacity of 6.5 liters and is the lightest and most powerful 12-cylinder engine ever made by Lamborghini. In total it weighs just 218 kilograms: 17 kilograms less than the Aventador unit. The Revuelto features the engine rotated through 180 degrees compared to the Aventador layout. The superquadro V12 puts out 825 CV at 9250 revs per minute thanks to the redesigned distribution system that supports a maximum rev range of 9500 rpm. Specific power is 127 CV per liter, the highest output in the history of Lamborghini’s 12-cylinder engines, while maximum torque is 725 Nm at 6750 rpm.

Volkswagen ID. XTREME is an exceptional off-road concept car that will generate an enthusiastic response among the many electric mobility fans at the event. The fully electric concept car with all-wheel drive system is based on the ID.4 GTX and combines the strengths of a modern SUV with the sense of adventure embodied by a rugged off-road vehicle.
The team increased the ID. XTREME’s system power by 65 kW to a total of 285 kW/387 PS by means of a performance drive on the rear axle as well as software adjustments to the drive control unit. This is equivalent to an increase in power by almost 30 percent. The new performance drive at the rear delivers 205 kW. In combination with the 80 kW front engine, the ID. XTREME accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds.
The exterior of the VW ID. XTREME also shows that the vehicle is ready for every off-road adventure. Raised rally running gear, 18-inch off-road wheels, a modified crash member with additional front bumper, and 50 mm-wider wings manufactured by 3D printing combine to give the concept vehicle an authentic off-road look. The roof carrier with additional LED lights and the completely closed aluminium underbody also equip the fully electric all-wheel drive vehicle for excursions away from paved roads.
The unique all-electric off-roader features 30 mm higher rally running gear from motorsport with 20 mm wide track plates. This makes the ID. XTREME stable, agile and safe even on uneven terrain. The 18-inch wheels with off-road tyres are covered flush by 3D-printed wheel housing extensions. They widen the wings by 50 mm and contribute to the confident off-road appearance of the ID. XTREME.
The underbody is protected by particularly robust and completely closed aluminium cladding. This starts at the front of the vehicle directly under the number plate and also protects the 77 kWh high-voltage battery in the middle of the vehicle as well as the rear section. The modified crash member is specially designed for the no-frills, very stable front protection bar.
With its honeycomb-like structure, the eye-catching outdoor roof rack with an extremely high load capacity picks up on a special design feature of the ID. model family. With the central engraving "Made with passion and friends", the outdoor roof rack tells the story of the creation of this extremely emotive concept vehicle. The front LED light strip of the design roof carrier brightly illuminates roads and the vehicle surroundings of the ID. XTREME when driving in dark conditions. This enables the driver to find their way safely through inhospitable terrain or snow-covered landscapes even in poor visibility and to detect obstacles early on.
The ID. XTREME’s interior is dominated by the elegant yet robust look of the grey microfibre fabric upholstery. The front sports seats bear the ID. XTREME logo in the upper area, while all decorative seams of the vehicle seats are in the vehicle-specific accent colour orange. On the rear bench seat, the centre seat has been removed in favour of a spacious, folding load-through hatch. The recessed seat shells provide secure support for the occupants, even off-road.
There is a fixed centre console with armrest for maximum travel comfort in the front seats and additional storage space. The air vents and the lower steering wheel clip are also in the contrasting orange colour. The fabric upholstery is also used for the front dash trim and door inlays. The typical ID. dash panel has a black trim surround.
