Mid 90's shoot 'em up opting to use, as far as I can tell, pre-rendered CGI in tandem with traditional pixel art. It's a visual style which doesn't quite work, at least in my opinion - the ship sprites seem incongruous with the background layers, although I guess it would be better viewed on a CRT.
As for the gameplay, it's typical shooter territory. Blast your way through waves of fighters, mid-level corvettes, before tackling an oversized behemoth of an end-of-level boss. You get to upgrade your craft with a variety of power-ups, but, as with the rest of the visuals, I'm not sold on the decision to have your ship shooting geometric shapes. None of the weapons really ever make you feel like a destructive force, however, which makes stages 4 onward really quite tough because you'll be facing wave upon wave of floating bullet sponges.
Gratia is a reasonable enough coin-op experience, although it will probably appeal more to the hardcore shooter fan. For everyone else, mileage may vary.
