Yeah. And it is very interesting here with both the Republicans and the Democrats finally coming to the same conclusion of, what the hell are we doing? Why am I here? Three dozen members have already said, I am leaving. And that doesn't even include George Santos, who is probably not.

Yeah. So we have all of these people who say, I can't take this anymore. But to me, what's kind of funny about it is the fact that these folks don't see the irony of every one of them saying, there's too much dysfunction. Not realizing that you're part of it. You are part of this dysfunction and this system. So don't sit there and pretend like it's everybody else but you.
They're concluding the same thing that you and I have concluded a lot of times. You've been asked to get in politics. I've been asked to get in politics so many times and my response is same as yours, is we get a hell of a lot more done doing what we do as a lawyer and as a TV analyst than you do in politics. It's a frigging waste of time. I mean, really. But three dozen now. Okay. How does that play itself out? I don't think it's clear whether that changes anything in the next cycle because it's so close. Right? What do you think?
No, I think you're right. And a lot of these folks are from either safe red districts or safe blue districts, so they know the next man up, next woman up is gonna win.

Yeah. But this kind of goes back to what you and I had talked about weeks ago and the fact that everything has become so tribal. There is no more reaching across the aisle. Let's work together on this legislation. Actually, I think one of the last times we saw real bipartisanship was actually Matt Gaetz teaming up with AOC on legislation. I forget it right, it slips my mind what the legislation was, but they were working together on something kind of big. And other than that, though, the fact that we can point to one time it's happened shows us that it's not happening enough.
Isn't it the dumbing down of our culture in general? Name one statesman. Okay, give me a statesman where you would say, well, this is a statesman. I think Blumenthal, frankly. I think that's a statesman. How many of those can you name that are up there? It used to be, you could name real statesmen. I mean, their goal was to make something happen. Their goal was to get along. Ted Kennedy, one of the greatest statesmen of all times that could reach across the aisle. He'd have all kinds of social interactions with them. Those days are gone. It's like, it's so dysfunctional because part of it is the dumbing down of America. That's really, read between, it's the dumbing down of America. Everything is like an MMA fight right now.
It really is because it's all about, can I get a zinger across to this person during this hearing? Can I go viral for this statement I'm about to make?

Even though Donald Trump got some good news from the US Supreme Court on Monday, he got some pretty bad news from the court system in the state of New York on Monday as well because his former Chief financial officer who only left the company a year ago, by the way, even after spending a hundred days on Rikers Island, uh, Alan Weisselberg accepted a plea deal to felony charges of perjury for lying in the New York Fraud trial and lying to Attorney General Letitia James. This is a pretty significant development in this case. Now, this plea deal was worked out with Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, who of course is prosecuting Donald Trump later this month. Weisselberg, however, is not a part of the upcoming criminal trial and the charges against Trump, the covering up the Stormy Daniels hush money payment, uh, it's not related to anything that Weisselberg is pleading guilty to.
So Weisberg's plea deal here is not expected to affect the criminal trial in any way. Now what it does do is it really screws Donald Trump over if he wants to have any hope whatsoever of getting that verdict against him from Judge Arthur Eron overturned on appeal. His guy, the guy that he was paying monthly payments for his $2 million severance package for went on the stand and lied to benefit Donald Trump. Do you think any appellate court in this country is gonna look at that and be like, well, I still think Trump should. Nah, that ain't gonna happen folks, especially not in the New York Court system. This plea deal for Weisselberg basically kills Donald Trump's appeal like it's over. I mean, Inger on for the record, had already written his opinion in such a way that legal experts are essentially calling it appeal proof. Bulletproof is the word they've actually used.
But now with Weisselberg admitting he lied to investigators and he lied on the stand for Donald Trump, holy hell, dude, you are not gonna win that appeal no matter what. You are screwed. You better come up with that $454 million in the next couple weeks or else you're gonna start losing all of your assets. That's what this means to me. But here's the thing. Before he handed down his ruling, and this is where I think this is really significant, judge Gerron had gotten wind to the fact that Weisselberg might be working on a plea deal with prosecutors in New York. And he had sent a letter to Donald Trump's lawyers, including Alina Haa by the way, asking them like, Hey, what do you know about this appeal? Like, or not appeal? What do you know about this
Plea deal? Like I, I've heard it might be a thing. Does anybody have any info? Um, 'cause it was reported by the New York Times, Trump's lawyers, Alina Haba, and uh, the other guy whose name escapes me at the moment, basically sent a letter back to Eron telling him, don't believe everything you read. This is ridiculous. Uh, Letitia James is like, look, I don't know anything about it. I haven't heard anything, but you know, we keep her ears open. 'cause Eron said, listen, before I make my judgment, I wanna know if this guy lied on the stand and I need to know if he's in the process of working out a plea deal. 'cause that will affect my judgment.

Last week, Republican senator, actually Republican minority leader in the Senate. Mitch McConnell, stripped Rick Scott of his position on the commerce committee as a way of basically giving Scott A. Little bit of payback for his challenge to Mitch McConnell as the leader of Republicans in the Senate. And of course for attacking Mitch McConnell publicly for the past year, going against him when he said, we're not running on a platform. Then Rick Scott said, screw you. I'm putting out a pa a platform that was widely criticized, not just by Democrats, but also by Republicans. And Rick Scott is mad. So during an interview with the Hill this week, Rick Scott lashed out at Mitch McConnell once again saying this, you saw in 2021, he came out and said in July that we would not participate in raising the debt ceiling. And then he organized 11 people to say, we'll allow the Democrats to do it on our own.
We didn't follow conference rules. I'm tired of caving. Now, of course, Rick Scott is talking about the ongoing debt ceiling crisis here in the United States. We have officially hit our debt ceiling. We have enough money to keep things solvent. I think the Fed said until June maybe. Uh, then after that we run into some very real problems. Government workers will not be able to be paid. We do, uh, expect government programs like entitlement programs to see checks stop or be reduced, and nobody wants to do that. Rick Mitch McConnell is not caving on this issue, which by the way is an issue that Congress imposed upon itself. The debt ceiling is something y'all created. I mean, not you specifically, cuz you weren't there yet. But it it, it's a congressional construct that has only been around for, you know, a couple years. It shouldn't exist.
It's very stupid and just sets up these idiotic fights. But Mitch McConnell, who has been around since I think before we even had a debt ceiling, um, he understands how to play the game. Something Rick Scott does not. Mitch McConnell understands that it will be viewed as the Republicans who make people not get their social security checks, especially after Rick Scott has already called for cutting social security. So Mitch McConnell is basically trying to do cleanup for you, Rick. You are out there causing all these problems, attacking the man who's trying to fix all the problems that you've created. But here's why Rick Scott is doing this. Rick Scott wants that power, even though he is still technically just a first term senator who has not paid his dues. I mean, let's be real about that. You want that power. You wanna be the leader of the Republicans in the Senate, then you gotta do your time, bud. You have to actually pass some bills. I mean, you haven't even done that. That's what's truly remarkable is Rick Scott has not done
Anything since coming to office other than put up obstruction and send out stupid policy platforms that call for raising taxes on the working class and cutting social security. You're very bad at this, Rick. I know you won your two elections down here in Deep Red Florida because we're a state of morons and that's why you made it to the Senate to begin with. You know, I don't mind the idea that they wanna endorse something, but at least know what the hell you're endorsing because people are relying on it. People that they're fans of yours, Lil Yachty. And when you say, let's do this, they listen to you, which is crazy to me. I mean, we talk about all the time how crazy it is that celebrities talk to us about what politics should be. And I'd use this story over and over, I just can't, Chelsea Handler not knowing that the moon is different than the Sun until she's 42 years old. Really? And so she's giving me political advice.
Yeah. And so with this one it is different because obviously I think you've had, I think Matt Damon has done some crypto commercials a year or so ago.

And Tom Brady did, but that's different because that's a commercial, you know, obviously they're getting paid. These individuals, you know, these kind of B list celebrities, a lot of 'em were promoting it without, because they were just putting on their social media as if, hey, this thing's really cool. He has 150 million in his campaign war chest. He's running for president cuz he can't run for governor again. So what you gonna do with that money? You got nothing to lose in 2024. You're not up for reelection. Go for it. Well, he sucks. Don't go for it. I'd love it if he didn't. But besides DeSantis, is there anybody you think we need to keep an eye on as a, as somebody that may have a chance?
Honestly, uh, I don't really see anyone. I know it's, it's kind of disappointing, but what we've seen over the last, you know, six years is a party that's been dominated by Trumpism. And yet when you get, you know, as a result of the midterms, you see that that hold starting to loosen. And I don't think there's anyone that I've seen so far that's ready to step up into that vacuum again. You know, we've got the, the possible Chris Christie, ooh, right, um, you know, that that's really the only one so far that I've seen kind of try to stand out. Maybe we'll have, you know, Ted Cruz, maybe there's, you know, some other establishment type of Republicans, maybe some anti-Trump Republicans that will throw their hat into the ring. But so far I haven't really seen any of them gain any sort of traction inside the party. And I would be very surprised, uh, if that happens right now, as you said before, it looks like, uh, Ron DeSantis when he declares, cuz there's, there's no question here. He will, it'll be a DeSantis versus Trump. But then again, I'm not exactly well known for my political, you know, prognostications
uh, uh, back in 2015 I predicted Trump was gonna drop out after the first Republican debate. That was before the debate even happened. I said mm-hmm. after that first debate, he'll make it. So, um, I'm not so great at, uh, Trump predictions either. Um. But I will say if Trump gets indicted about five minutes after that indictment, you can expect Ron DeSantis to say, oh by the way, I am uh, running for president now. And I think that's probably what a lot of these other Republicans are waiting for too. Cuz we do have big movement with the DOJ investigation. We're about to get the final report from the January 6th committee. So I think you've got a lot of Republicans like standing there ready to start the race, but only if right. That indictments happened. Um, and I do think just people to kind of keep an eye on one name I threw out there is Christie Nom, uh, from South Dakota.
She's, she's got the MAGA credentials. She would never challenge Trump, but she could be somebody Trump may partner with, assuming, assuming he doesn't get indicted, uh, which isn't that big of an assumption to make, we know how it works. But if he makes it through and if he sees, okay, where's my weakest point? One of my weakest points is suburban women. So I gotta choose a woman, but I can't choose Marjorie Taylor Green cuz she is universally despised outside of her district. I need somebody that's not gonna say no to me, but isn't, you know, a wacky, wacky person, and well she is, but she hasn't had the publicity. I think Christie Nome would be a good running mate for Trump if I'm a Republican advisor.

Currently, there are five incumbent, Republican senators who have announced that they will not be seeking reelection in 2022, effectively leaving five open seats. My question is, why is it Republican politicians blame outsourcing on immigrants when it is corporations who are doing this? Okay, first of all, you've been watching it since high school. I don't know how old you are now. Um, but, but thank you for that continued support and just, I, I like to rehash this because I don't think people quite realize this Ring of Fire has been on the air since 2004. This is our 19th year doing this here at Ring of Fire. We, of course, began the video production of it in 2007. So what is that, 16 years? Um, I've been on this side of the camera.
Uh, so thank you for sticking with us. You know, obviously if you've been with us for a while, you've been with us through Air America, through Go Left tv, through YouTube, through Free Speech tv, through the Young Turks, uh, through Papp's show on rt. Just all kinds of stuff. So thank you for sticking with us. We appreciate it. Now, to your question, why do Republicans blame outsourcing on immigrants rather than corporations? Well, the answer to that's pretty simple. Who's paying their campaigns? It's not the immigrants. The immigrants aren't the ones out there funding these Republican campaigns? No. It's those corporations. And this is actually something that Papp and I bring up on America's lawyer, which by the way, uh, we go live with that on, on YouTube on Thursdays. Um, but anyway, the reason these corporations continue to get away with using migrant labor, you know, whether it's home or abroad, is because they've paid off the politicians.
One of the things we see happen frequently is migrant workers, you know, illegal aliens over here in the United States just working a job and sending money back home, right? And I'm sorry, but in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that. I, I'm not even bothered that they really didn't go through the correct channels to get in here. They're not here committing crimes. They're here working a job to send money to their families. They're not the criminals. The criminals are the people hiring them because not only are they hiring somebody they know legally isn't supposed to be working here, which again, even that I don't have a problem with. The problem is the way they treat these people. They pay them substandard wages often below the living wage, the minimum wage, where in their areas they do not give them any protections. They use coercion to prevent these individuals from reporting any problems on the job. You know, like, oh, hey, we don't have hard hats here. Well, if you report me for working you in these unsafe conditions, I'm gonna report you for being illegal and ship you back.
And there's another issue here. Um, a couple years ago, there was a, I think it was a meat packing plant, Mississippi or Louisiana. I talked about it at the time, and I've brought it up several times since then. They had a big sting operation where they busted couple hundred migrant workers who were working illegally at this factory down here in the south. They took 'em all outside, they had them in handcuffs. The school bus pulled up with like these people's kids because that's where they got dropped off after school. And they go out there, they see their parents in handcuffs, they get deported. The owner of the factory, the management, the people who knowingly hired these workers. Nothing happened to them, nothing happens to them. And the reason nothing happens to them goes back to the main point is because they've paid off the politicians, corporations will never, ever, ever allow either political party to stop the flow of immigrants into the United States. Republicans know that.
