Ladies and Gents.
Here's a video for you, on feed and grain storage. if you're a pleb like me, and don't wanna spend a load of money on a grain bin, then this video is for you!
Index:
0:00 Introduction, FIBC's. What are they? Positives? Negatives?
2:36 IBC's. Benefits, Issues.... win?
4:25 Okay... How do I get the feed out?
6:15 INSERTION. The Crescendo. The point of the video, Extraction.
8:34 Concerns about this storage method.
12:25 Preach.
13:14 Outro.
We all like to keep our dollars in our pockets, and just 'cause I spent money on this, doesn't mean the parts can't be sourced for close to free.
I think I spent maybe $150 on the entire storage area.
Unless you count the tractor to move the FIBCs... Which I don't, cause you can just use a 5gal bucket to move feed quickly.
Cost breakdown:
The IBC's were $40/ea,
The pallets were free, same as the cinder block to raise the IBC's off the ground.
The bulb auger cost me $26 on amazon.

As a neighbor helpfully suggested, You want to be able to move these if you have a need. So ideally, You want to stack everything in this order/way:
IBC
Pallet
Cinderblock
Pallet
This lets you use a pallet jack to move the IBCs as you need to while still maintaining height to fit a bucket under the IBC's valve.
Now, you gotta watch out on some of the IBC's. They have what's called a "paddle" valve. This means there's a paddle in the valve section that rotates open and closed. You can't fit a auger into this because the paddle sits in the middle of the orifice. You need to remove it all together. It's not hard to remove, as it all pulls out from the top handle area. Just something to be cognizant of before you get loading up your IBC with grain. Other IBC's have full-flow ball valves, which have a 2" orifice ball in them. You can fit your auger in these without modifying the valve, and you wont need a cover for them, since they seal completely.
Anyhow. Enjoy the video. Ask questions if you got 'em!

Doc has dreams of being a barn cat.
always outside, bringing something back to share with me...
in this video, I take him down to may barn let him have a snuggle in the straw, and show him a mouse I gave the boot to yesterday, which he proceeds to eat.
overall, he's a good cat. can't complain too much... except when he's trashing my couches.
maybe I take it back. he's a bit of a jerk at times.
