Photography trip Maggie valley to photograph elk and Ashville with my Nikon Z50 Leica & SL2 Camera
In this video I travel to Maggie Valley North Carolina with my Nikon Z50 Camera as well as my Leica SL2 camera and a bevy of lenses to photography a long list of things. The first thing in the video to photograph is a herd of elk in the Cataloochee. Then it is off to Ball Photo to shop for some vintage lenses in several mounts such as M42 mount lens designs as well as the classic Nikon F mount lens bayonet as well.
Then to make the algorithm happy i have to add: Photography trip Maggie valley to photograph elk and Ashville with my Nikon Z50 Leica & SL2 Camera to the description so skip over this part and read the next paragraph instead. LOL
I find that I love shooting with the Nikon Z50 and the 500mm Phase Fresnel lens using the FTZ adapter when photographing wildlife and nature. This camera system is lightweight and compact and produces wonderful images. Then I switch cameras and grab the Leica SL2 camera and add a new to me vintage lens, a 28mm f2.8 Hanimex, and take to the streets of Ashville to get some street photography.
I do a quick pseudo tutorial on how to repair a screen for a window and then once the chores are finished, I grab the Leica CL and the 50mm Summicron R and go for a walk in downtown Chattanooga on MLK for a little while. Come along and see what I find on this short trip!

The Nikon 35-70mm f2.8 push pull zoom lens was the mainstay of Nikon photographers in the 90s and 2000s for their mid range zoom lens. It is a rugged and reliable zoom lens made with an aluminium body and beautiful glass elements. This lens even sported a "macro" feature that was common on zoom lenses of the period. This being an AF series Nikkor lens, it focuses with what is commonly called screw drive focus, this just means that the focus motor for this lens is contained in the camera body on select Nikon DSLR and SLR cameras. So if oyu plan to use this lens on your Nikon camera, be sure to check to see if your particular model supports this type of focus system.

We go for a walk through the historic, late 19th century community of Fort Wood in Chattanooga TN and get some interesting photos with the Fuji XT3 and the Nikon 55mm f3.5 Micro Nikkor lens. If you get the opportunity to visit this area, and you enjoy vintage architecture, then you should make it a point to visit Fort Wood.

In this lesson I talk about some different composition techniques as well as why you would want to use some of them...or not, in your photography. These are meant to be simple lessons, not all encompassing deep dive tutorials, but just to get someone who it new, some ideas.

Let;s take a walk ... and a drive here and there ... to see what we can get with the Nikon 20mm wide angle lens and the Nikon Z6. I throw in a lot of photos as well as some tips on how to get interesting photos with this combination. The Nikon Z6 with the Nikkor 20mm AF-D lens adapted to it, produces stunning photos and is really easy to use with focus peaking and focus magnification.
