SHELTER DESIGN STRATEGY: https://goo.gl/vsxzUJ
The "Big 3" of Survival is Food, Water and Shelter. One can live 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. But in an emergency situation you must first have a good shelter in place to protect you from the elements like weather and insects. In an urban environment, there are more man-made structures that you can leverage for shelter such as buildings, overpasses, doorways and walls. However, it is still generally accepted that you will want to shelter outside of an urban environment as much as possible during a true survival situation to avoid crowds of people.
Shelter items generally consist of one of the three categories:
1. What you sleep UNDER: Tent, Tarp
2. What you sleep IN: Sleeping Bag, Bivvy, Blanket
3. What you sleep ON: Sleeping Pad, Pillow
The following items make up the supplies included in the Shelter Module for my Urban Bug Out Bag (version 3.0). The intent is to keep weight light and storage space as small as possible, while still offering adequate capabilities for shelter warmth and quick deployment.

This is the bag that I am currently carrying for EDC Commuter purposes when on the go with my laptop; either for work or for personal use. My previous EDC Backpack was fairly large in size and I wanted to have a more lightweight solution that was specifically designed for urban traveling purposes.

Urban Street Survival: Learning from the Homeless
"PENNY STOVE": Construction and Testing (PART 2)
During my research on "The International Homeless Forum" (www.homelessforums.org) I was introduced to a stove often used by the homeless called a "Penny Stove". I had previously heard of a "Hobo Stove" (using a #10 can), but never a Penny Stove. After doing some research on Google and YouTube, I have found that this is a project often used by ultralight backpackers. It is basically a DIY alcohol stove build out of 2 soda cans attached together.
In this video I show you my first attempt at constructing and testing a "Penny Stove" as part of my research for my "Learning form the Homeless" video series.
Please feel free to leave comments. Thanks!

First off, Brad Cullen from Leatherman is the sole person responsible for getting me into Shot Show 2015. We met a few months back just to talk multitools and he encouraged me to attend as a Leatherman Guest. Without Brad, none of the Shot Show 2015 videos that I've done would be possible without Brad's extreme kindness and effort. So special THANK YOU to Brad and Leatherman for bringing in "The Urban Prepper" into Shot Show 2015. It was an unbelievable experience!
The two new Leatherman products for 2015 that really caught my eye were the Signal Multitool and the Tread Bracelet. In this video, Brad provides an overview of both tools. I am hoping to test them out in 2015 to provide full products reviews for each. They are both exciting!
