Milling logs with the Granberg Alaskan chainsaw mill - Tips and observations
So here I am having some fun with my Granberg Alaskan MK III chainsaw mill. The chainsaw mill is paired with a Stihl 661 running a 36" bar and I'm using a custom ripping chain made by the local Stihl chainsaw dealer in the area. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIb4D4jWuVg
Review: OneTigris Hammock Underquilt
For years I have considered purchasing an underquilt for my Hennessy hammock camping expeditions but they just seemed so ridiculously priced. I've been using my trusty lightweight Thermarest sleeping pad in my Hennessy for a couple years now and have been quite satisfied. Recently I stumbled upon the OneTigris underquilt as a possible alternative to my Theremarest. Most importantly the OneTigris hammock underquilt is affrodable... needless to say I decided to give it a try.

Well folks its been a while since I put out a video. Living off grid does have its challenges, not having a driveway to Le Mountain shack creates some special challenges getting lumber & building materials up the mountain. I've spent many months hauling gear on back and quite frankly when I'm carrying 4x8ft boards on my head filming myself is the last thing on my mind.
Snow season is here so construction chores should slow down. Hopefully there will be more time for hobbies, adventures and more videos! Thank you to all my subscribers.
Take care and thanks for watching.

I threw together a quick overnight trip up in to the Olympic Mountains. With me I had my trusty Hennessy Ultralite Explorer Asym zip hammock.
Unfortunately after a late start, knee high snow on a 45 degree slope and no snow shoes I was not able to make the designated evening camp. Fortunately the steep mountain slope I was on happened to have a crap load of trees... hammocks like trees.
I think it is safe to say that at this point the Hennessy is my go to sleep system for most of my adventures... providing there are trees.

After watching several videos and reading many articles on the topics of heating small cabins in winter I thought I would take a stab at building a rocket stove for my winter shelter shack.
Over a couple days I cobbled together the pieces for my version of a rocket stove and built it in a couple hrs. All said and done the stove worked pretty well. Sadly there is NO INSULATION in my Winter Shelter Shack and with temperatures in the 20's and single digits the rocket stove did not adequately heat up the shack... unless you were getting up close and personal with it.
The other feature I incorporated into the build was a copper coil around the inner chimney core, unfortunately I did not get enough time to put that part of the project to the test but if you follow my channel I will be putting up a video sometime in the future showing how that works.
Cheers, thanks for watching.

If you have been following my channel you will no doubt know that there was very little progress on the cabin build during Winter.
After every snow fall I headed up the mountain to free the tarp covering the cabin of its Winter burden...
In this video Mrs OGW and I inspect things around ye olde log cabin.

All stunts are performed by UNTRAINED NON-PROFESSIONALS and should not be attempted at home, in the woods or in your mom's basement.
On a serious note... I love the outdoors, I love real freedom and if I could live both of those every day I would be one happy camper! Join me on my pursuit for the sh*t that really matters.
Greetings and Salutations... this is the Off Grid Warrior.

Granberg Model G776 Alaskan MKIII Chainsaw mill 36"
Here you can see the un-boxing and complete setup of the Granberg Alaskan chainsaw mill. Initially I will be pairing the mill with a Stihl MS 661 running a 32" bar with a custom ripping chain.
I will be using the chainsaw mill to create the lumber needed for a small off grid cabin I am building.

- Building the Winter Survival Shelter Shack
Winter 2019 - I have decided to build a log shelter by hand and to live in it through an entire Winter. Some of you may ask why, well the answer is simple... because I can.
Like most folks I have a job, I toil for the shekels 5 days a week but unlike everyone else I wont be heading back to the comforts of a modern home... this would be way too easy and besides most folks are already doing this so no challenge there.
I have secured a rural piece of property tucked away on a mountain side. As you can see in this video there has been a lot of tree felling and log flipping, progress is under way and I am hoping to have the basic structure buttoned up by the end of October.
I can't drive up to the front door (still have to build a door), a small hike is required to get from where I will be parking my vehicle, this should be a nice little challenge once the snow flies.
Join me... this should be interesting.
Thanks for watching!
