Here you can see me moving the last two logs required for the walls. Wall height is approximately 8 feet. The next step in this log cabin build will be the roof.

Thanks to a few of my subs who brought the Cubic Mini Stove to my attention. Since December I have been heating the inside of Winter Shelter using a Mr Heater portable buddy heater. The Buddy heater has been less than ideal... clearly being dependent on propane is not a pathway to being self reliant or self sufficient. I have lived through Winters using wood stoves for heating and cooking and as far as I am concerned NOTHING beats wood heat. Granted I have never owned a wood stove that could pass as a toy but seriously this stove is the real deal, complete with a fire brick lined interior and all the controls you would expect to find on a typical wood stove.
I will have a more in-depth review on offgridwarrior.com in a few days along with some pictures once I have had more time with the Cubic mini wood stove.
Thanks for watching!

I hate to admit it but yes I lost my Sig Sauer P320 on a snow covered mountain, fortunately for just 3 weeks.
My chest holster is a molle holster, permanently attached to my vest, it has two different safety's that are always engaged... especially when I am scrambling up a snowy mountain. I also religiously check every 10 or so minutes when I am moving through snowy woods. This said, SOMEHOW the pistol managed to slide out of the holster... I'm guessing a combination of me slipping/flaling at times and snow getting on chest rig (possibly allowing firearm dislodge/slide out from holster)
I decided to purchase metal detector to help with the P320 rescue, I went with a lower end metal detector, the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro. This metal detector did a great job, without it I would not of found my pistol.
I am happy to say that the Sig Sauer held up well, besides a little surface rust which I was able to clean up, she is firing just fine... like nothing happened.
Thanks for watching.

Winter is over over and its time to fire the old scribe and get going... only six more months and we shall be seeing snow again. Hopefully this time we can watch the snow flakes from the inside of our cozy little off grid cabin.
In this video I scribe the first log of Spring, i have at least three more rounds to go and then its time to figure out how we shall be building our roof.

This is my first camping experience with the Hennessy Hammock. This is the Explorer Ultralite A-sym zippered model. Several months later and multiple camping expeditions later my Hennessy is still going strong.
If you're thinking about using this hammock in Winter there are a few things you are going to have to modify or add to the basic system. In this video I'll show you what I had to do to keep my backside from freezing.
If you want to learn a little more about setting up the Hennessy Hammock check out my site at www,offgridwarrior.com.
Cheers

In this episode of Living in a Winter Shelter... not much really happens. Yup this video is a real yawn fest folks. I can say this because nobody really reads these descriptions or am I wrong?
I knew it would be just a matter of time before some critter found a way into the shelter. Since moving in I have always had a trap nearby and set when I leave the shelter. Don't worry I did not eat the little critter.
I also take the time to do a little cooking and answer a few questions from subscribers. I cover my daily routine and let viewers in on one of my dirty little secrets... WARNING it starts with the letter R. Top secret off grid living stuff!
Thanks for watching.
