OPEC is pushing non-OPEC members to join its oil output reduction. Ameera David has the details. Then, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at new statistics from the CDC, showing a slight decrease in U.S. life expectancy. Afterwards, Jim Rickards, author of new book “The Road to Ruin,” tells Ameera what he expects from a Donald Trump economy, and how his cabinet could shape up.
Following the break, former U.S. Representative and Libertarian icon Ron Paul gives his take on the Trump-Carrier deal, if the U.S. is at risk of recession, and whether or not the housing market is in a bubble. And finally, in The Big Deal, Edward Harrison breaks down junk bonds, which are faring well amongst a broader bond selloff.

Over the past couple of weeks, everyone’s attention has been focused on the titillating drama between Greece and EU. Though the dust there is settling, the economic situation in Venezuela has reached a fever pitch. Since the start of 2015, Venezuelan shoppers have been enduring a shortage of basic necessities like flour and diapers. The government says political opponents backed by unscrupulous businessmen are sabotaging the economy as part of a US-backed strategy to oust President Maduro. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin is joined by Rob Barnett – energy policy analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. Rob gives us his outlook on the oil sector. Bloomberg polls show expectations for $57 a barrel this year. But Rob tells us short-term gyrations can be severe. Marginal costs are as low as $5-10 a barrel for some producers, and in the 1980s and 1990s oil traded at $20 a barrel for an extended period. There is plenty of downside. At the same time, reduced rig count has not translated into reduced production. Much pressure still remains on the price.
After the break, Erin sits down with Anthony Randazzo – director of economic research at the Reason Foundation. Anthony tells us what he makes of Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen’s response to the Audit the Fed legislation and gives us his take on if we’ll see a Grexit.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward Harrison are talking about the NASDAQ and the Federal Reserve. The NASDAQ has climbed to 5000 again. And many seem to be cheering the news. But evidence of market froth abounds and the Fed could be poised to step in to restore financial stability as a result. Take a look!
