As half the operatives are in the infirmary to recover from the wounds they have suffered, a skeleton crew is assembled to go and do some search and destroy missions to gather alien artifacts for selling for profit, and to showcase to the funding nations, that our operations are not just wasting lives on the front line.
And in the shadows of the bases of operation, the scientists are making progress questioning the ethereal prisoner, and extracting valuable information that will help fight the alien threat.
