On the 8th of December 1941, almost an hour before Japanese aircraft attacked Pearl Harbor, Japanese soldiers began landing on the Malayan beach at Kota Bharu. The Battle of the Parit Sulong Bridge was the final action during the larger Battle of Muar fought between Australian soldiers and Japanese solider during the Japanese invasion of Malaya.
