(FINAL SEGMENT) Pokemon Sapphire Glitchless IGT Former PB 2:11
I did one final practice segmented run to make sure I had flowtimer offsets that I could hit reliably with RNG manipulation. Perhaps this could've been 2:10 if I didnt have so many move selection cock-ups that you'll be seeing here.
Also toyed more with my audio recording settings. The audio may sound echoy as a result, though I'd rather take this than the amplified 60hz hum I had in the most recent recordings.
Fairly recent discovery, but we knew about it all this month.
The video documenting this is here: https://youtu.be/pCKZU4ziZrI
I did cut the last few seconds of the audio intentionally, but the level was already over.
Didn't think I could actually pull it off, then I did.
And then the IL WR flew down from 1:42 to 1:35 to 1:20 to 1:05 to this. And it could go lower even still.
Welcome 6-1 to the sub 1 club.

another segmented run... i know ?
Execution was really good throughout, even if RNG/Spinners/Fights wouldnt line up for me. Really strong potential.
This final segment in particular was super smooth.

Here's a cans manip for Lt. Surge's Gym (only on GBC/GBA/Emu)
How to do it:
1. Save on the tile in front of the door.
2. Hard reset
3. Tap UP+B on the Boot screen when and only when the Nintendo logo is up
4. Standard buffer (you can see the inputs I do)
5. Hold up to enter gym
6. Head to top left can (you need to slightly delay getting there (~0.2 seconds is enough))
7. Do top left can, and one to the right of it. (3/4 chance to work)
7a. If it fails, hard reset and try again.

PART ONE -- Rival 2 to Fog Badge
(Turn on Captions for Commentary)
I had a head theory that had the Lake of Rage Gyarados not been hardlocked at being shiny, it would be quite likely speedruns of Pokemon Gold/Silver would primarily use Gyarados.
So, I decided to start doing segmented speedruns of the game with the Red Gyarados as the main battler to test. After a playthrough, I realized that this was the alt main I was looking for: it was genuinely fun.
After a few more runs, I decided to codify the route I was doing so others could run it too. I saw it having potential to be a highly viable alt main speedrun, with one caveat at the very end of the game.
This video series is meant to supplement the guide.
Playing on JPN version as that is the game collection I chose to build up.

If it weren't for the final boss troll, it'd be sub-20.
If it weren't for the L3 death, it'd be sub-19.

*sigh*
Three runs on WR pace, and by no small margin. And they all die in some way. This just shows how close I am to setting it.

The WIP 6 months ago (my, how time flies) needed more improvements.
Many thanks to the Super Mario Bros. Speedrunning Community for a way to do the flagpole glitch in 1-1, 4-1, and 8-3.
The rerecord count tripled, and the time decreased by 81 frames (1.36s), all with new backwards acceleration tricks, flagpole glitches (see thumbnail), faster 4-2 vine grab, glitching thru walls, and more optomizations.
Time: 10:14.41 (36926 Frames)
Rerecords: 21854

Inspired off of Aglar's Sonic 1 "no zips" run (https://www.youtu.be/DK3MCkc7TqA) and IntelOrca's glitchless S3K TASes (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL57EDB0404BAFDFE7), I decided to make a TAS of this masterpiece with no zips or level wraps.
Current Progress: Marble Garden 2 complete
Time taken to TAS: ~5.5hr
When will I be done with this? (Estimate): 16:00 on 12/25

Despite having a perfect on both Shoot em Up and Shoot em Up 2, I had yet to chain the sections together to come close to pulling it off in an endless run. The endless form of this game chains the two main games together for the first part, before taking random screens from both games once that finishes.
This was a literal perfect run until the final few screens in the Shoot em Up 2 sections (which are insanely hard to get right). Sorry for no music, I still dont have a good setup to record game audio.
On the topic of DS related things. I have actually damaged my touchscreen on the NDS to the point that it will fail to calibrate (and my DSi's is so borked it has a mind of its own). If you know where i can get replacement DS and DSi touchscreens and how to repair them, or where i can go to find that out, please let me know. I can't find DS specific info, only for the DSLite. Is it the same?
My high score (151400) is from March 29th, but i wasnt recording when that happened. It actually got through enough random screens to begin the music loop from the beginning (I assume) but a combination of nerves, pressure, and having like one hit left didnt get me further past that.
Score Splits: (and how many missed at each split)
shmup 1 - 38400 (probably a PB) (-0)
transition - 72600 (definitely a PB) (-0)
shmup 2 - 115100 (probably a PB) (-7)
RNG screens - 115600 (sadge) (-15)
