CubicleNate | 2019 Christmas Light Show | Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Wizards of Winter
Christmastime is my favorite season and has been for a long time. This is my first musical sequence using the Falcon Player system. The sequence was created using xLights running on openSUSE Linux.

In a situation where the door will not open on a Whirlpool Front Load Washer of the 2022 vintage, it can be manually. This requires removal of the lid which is held on by 3 screws. The latch can be released by pushing down on the top of the latch assembly. An audible click will be heard as the lock is disengaged.

It was just over a year ago that there was an incredible buzz over the release of the Pi 400. In 2022, this ARM based computer is still a fantastic device that I highly recommend for just about anyone that wants to projects of any kind. I was late to the party in adding the Pi400 to my "cubicle" but better late than never.
I have an almost unhealthy obsession with the openSUSE project and absolutely adore this Raspberry Pi. Putting together the fun, flexibility, ease of management and reliability of openSUSE with the low cost and highly capable hardware seems like the absolute perfect combination.
The question I am going to answer here is, "How Well does it openSUSE?"

I have previously completed a written post on this subject but due to pressure from... well... one guy, I thought I'd turn this into a video for the world to see my low budget and low production quality video. I took an excessive amount of shortcuts to get this done with as quickly as I could and am still not exactly satisfied with it. As a wise man once told me, "Sometimes you just have to stop and let it be."
This video outlines the steps it took for me to get the Commodore 64, under it's stock power to get onto the Internet and access Internet Relay Chat (IRC) with its stock display and 64K of RAM.
The two accessories I purchased to make this happen was an SD2IEC from The Future Was 8-Bit
https://www.thefuturewas8bit.com/sd2iec-info
and the RR-Net Mk3 from icompe.de

Happy Christmastime 2022. Here is the featured Christmas Light Show for this year.
Changes in light display added two "fake bushes" on both sides of the house and a "pixel tree" that has 890 individually programmable lights, like the house, snow flakes and candy (chroma) canes. There are a total of 2337 individually controllable lights along with 9 channels that turn on and off the more traditional lighting such as the bush nets, railing and tree wraps as well as the little props in the yard. Not visible is the sign that directs viewers to tune to 88.5 FM to listen to the light dance with music.
Original Sound Track and music video for Candy Cane Lane, which is totally a fun watch:

Due to legal reasons, openSUSE cannot include all the multimedia codecs in the distribution. This does make for an extra step post installation.
This is my video accompaniment to the step-by-step instructions for installing multimedia codecs in openSUSE.

A bit hyperbolic of a title but it's true. In order to save myself the headache of dealing with broken tablets. I have gone to using Magnetic USB cables to save the stress on the connectors.
It is not a perfect solution as the connector ends do like to collect anything magnetic and as a consequence need to be cleaned. The best magnetic cables that also do data don't seem to have a USB-C to USB-C option so higher voltage charging doesn't seem to be a possibility either.
