It's important to understand what true conversion means. It will help us to guide others as they begin their Christian lives. It's also helpful for us, as we evaluate our own journey of faith.

Don't make important decisions when you are in desolation. Learn to pause, pray, and discern the source and significance of your desolation. That's more important for your spiritual growth than making quick decisions.

1 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. (Luke 5:1-11)
God can and will use anyone as He pleases. It's all by His grace. But we can choose to be available to the Master if we so desire. We can posture and position ourselves so the Lord may use us according to His purpose and will. In other words, we can make ourselves more available to Him so that if it pleases the Lord to use us, He can. We can offer our lives to Him as a living sacrifice.

Main Idea: “God is not looking for our ability but for our availability.” (“Hindi hinahanap ng Diyos ang ating kakayahan kundi ang ating kahandaan.”)
How can we be available to the Master?
Three things we can do
1. Let God use whatever we have (vv.1-3).
2. Trust God even in areas of our expertise (vv.4-7).
3. Be humble but don't limit God (vv.8-11).

Some of our desires can lead us to a deeper experience with Jesus. However, some of our desires can also mislead us. Attending to our desires and discerning them prayerfully is an important spiritual discipline.

In Christian spirituality, the discipline of repentance plays a crucial role in a person's relationship with God. Repentance involves agreeing with God concerning our sins, confessing one's sins, asking for forgiveness, and turning away from sinful behavior. It is a necessary step towards spiritual growth and a closer relationship with God.

Storms of Life | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. 24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:22-25)
All of us go through storms in life. No one is exempted. But when it does happen, our response reveals the status of our spiritual lives. For most of us, our faith is severely tested during such times. We sometimes wonder, "Where is God?" He seems to be absent or unconcerned about what's going on in our lives during those critical moments. What must we remember during storms of life?

What must we remember during storms of life?
Three Truths
1. Storms can shake our complacency (vv.22-23).
2. Storms can train our imagination (v.24).
3. Storms can deepen our faith (v.25).
