Rapid Independence from the Supermarkets
There is one thing most preppers don't do that can make them less dependent on Supermarkets and more fortified in the long run. Of course, food, is not just a prepper concern. For a long time preppers have been warning about food shortages and the vast majority of people have given that the ho hum attitude.
Our desire to save the world from climate change has inspired the wealthy and the people in power to push forward at any cost! Of course, most of the cost will be incurred by YOU! Remember, food is hardly a partisan issue, though it seems anything can be made partisan these days.
When our "benevolent" rulers tell you they believe in a diet that contains less red meat, do you think they will be eating less red meat? Do you think they will change anything about how they eat? Or do you think you will be FORCED into changing the way you eat?

The Colonial Gas ransomware hack is so full of teaching moments that I felt I had to get up here and talk about preparedness and common sense. Now, to be prepared does not mean to be running to and fro when the media government complex tells you to!
Colonial Gas is going to recover from this. Gas is going to flow fully in the very near future. This is not a situation that we should consider SHTF and particularly not for the long term. Thanks to the media the people around you will make it look like SHTF. PANIC is not PREPARED!
Being a prepper, survivalist, or whatever you are in your journey should keep you from the chaos and keep you from fear. This is how I measure my own success! Am I forced into chaos? Am I forced to wade through civil unrest? Of course, I may decide to go witness the chaos. I am here to experience this life, too! We are not to hide from it all but the goal is to never be forced into it.
As a prepper and an outdoorsmen there is one word that will get you through the next week or 2 of shortages: CONSERVATION. You see, conservation is a forgotten method of preparedness. SIT! Stay home for a week. If your tank is full and you don't have a massive commute, you are going to survive this without issue.
