Buzzed Belief Debate Series Promo
Buzzed Belief: A Social Debate Series for All Points of View

All events here: http://www.mythicistmilwaukee.com/buzzed-belief/

It’s difficult to get to life's questions with so many differing opinions swirling around our world today. But we know one thing for sure ... beer helps. As do wine and spirits. So, first: We’ve got those covered.

Each debate will feature a speaker defending a religious position AND a speaker presenting an atheist perspective. You can expect top scholars and authors and an array of different debate topics.

The goal is to learn and to entertain. Ultimately, we hope Buzzed Belief will promote understanding between those who are believers and those who are not. What common values do we share? What points are divisive?

Want to ask a burning question? DO IT. There will be an open-mic Q&A.

Yes, we can disagree sanely. Perhaps you’ll see the other side, perhaps you’ll change someone else's mind. We promote no agenda other than entertainment, education and a respectful tolerance of opposing viewpoints. If this sounds like your cup of tea, mug of beer, glass of wine or snifter of brandy, then please join us for any or all of these exciting new debates!

Are There Reliable Sources for the Miraculous Resurrection of Jesus?

FREE admission with advanced reservation. $5 at the door.

The resurrection of Jesus is the Christian religious belief that, after being put to death, Jesus rose again from the dead. It is the central tenet of Christian theology and part of the Nicene Creed. His resurrection is covered in the Scriptures; but are these writings reliable?

Dr. Richard Carrier is an atheist historical scholar and author with a PhD in ancient history from Columbia University. He is one of the leading current proponents of the Christ myth theory, and will argue that the sources we have for Jesus' resurrection are not reliable enough to be considered an actual historical event.

Dr. Justin W. Bass is the lead pastor of 1042 Church in Frisco, Texas, and a Professor at Dallas Christian College and Dallas Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in New Testament Studies, and will make the case that Paul’s early letters and the Synoptic Gospels are reliable sources for the miraculous resurrection of Jesus.
