Shifu Chris Goedecke, aka Hayashi Tomio, is a martial arts practitioner and instructor. Shifu Goedecke is the headmaster of the Isshin Kempo Wind School in New Jersey.
"If you've been doing martial arts for a very long time, it's impossible not to cross into the mental side of it. You can be in the mental side right in the beginning, but I mean really sink in in the mental side of it."

During his childhood, he heard about karate on a tv show and he immediately went to the bookstore and got some books about martial arts. Shifu Chris Goedecke started his journey to the martial arts when karate was just beginning to spread in the United States. He trained under the founder of Isshin Kempo, W. S. Russel. Shifu Goedecke also has a deep connection with Buddhism being an ordained Buddhist and he has written a couple of books about karate. Shifu Chris Goedecke told a lot of his lifelong experiences so listen to learn more!
