I played this song a lot in 2019 over six months. After about the first 3 plays, I started to do my own thing and improvise as much as possible to fill those vocal holes. Every take I do is different. This guy at the end of the song talked to me and gave me a nice compliment. Just remember, he said it, not me, so please direct hate comments to him at his email fyou@yahoo.com. It's not often anyone even stops to listen or tip, so this is a very rare event and a little thing like this makes the other 99% of the audience apathy worth it.

Karen got upset with me on the street. She actually asked if I had a license. Yes, a license to shred! This helps my multi tasking talents. To keep playing while simultaneously telling idiots to get lost is all part of the skills you need to survive out there. Good luck with calling the police. I’ve tried that many times while actually having a real reason, like being assaulted, and they still don’t answer the phone. At least she didn't ask if she could play my guitar for a dollar. Keep in mind this is a busy urban downtown area with an average ambient noise level of 100 db.

Busking and youtube facts:
1) Street playing is not all fun and games and dancing kids. Did this for 5 years. I regularly faced not only verbal abuse, but physical assault as I worked a few blocks from downtown eastside Vancouver. I'm surrounded by addicts, drunks, and people who should be in mental homes.
2) I'm unemployed. I lost all busking work 2020 (it was banned) I had a very bad year and then had a serious brain aneurism in April 2021 where I almost died.
3) If you liked the performance, please think about supporting me on patreon/paypal tip/bandcamp as DONATION is the only way I survive.
4) I'm writing my own songs for 20 years. Check out my bandcamp page for 2000 original instrumentals.
5) It's a lot of unpaid work to post these videos all the time so please try to help me keep the channel going. Many thanks to those that have supported me! It means a lot!
6) I get asked this 100 times a day so here's the answer: I play on the street and not in a band because all the clubs closed years ago due to disinterest, high rents, no profitability. I used to lead many bands from 2006 to 2018. That's all gone. It's also a lot more hassle, and less money, to run a band than play by myself.
7) I get asked this 100 times a day. "Why don't you try a better spot?" THIS is the best spot. How do I know? I've tried all of them. This spot is even better than Granville Island which is all tourists. Vancouver does not have many spots to play. Maybe 3-4 down

I did two tributes to Tina this week. First one was 'Better be good to me' on May 25, then 'Nut street city limits' on May 27/2023 which is the perfect song for where I play. I have been a fan of Turner since the mid 60's when I first heard 'A fool in love' because my Dad played it. That is still my favorite song from her. I used to audition singers with that song, and they all failed the test. In the second video, you will see what I see very day. Addicts lying on the street near me, almost dead. This spot is where they often go to die. I know of two dead in the last month, found right by those boxes. A woman actually stopped to check on the addict, but gets no reaction. (It is extremely rare for people to show concern. for addicts laid out on the street) The woman then calls 911 and you can watch what happens.

Again, a rarity in that people know the song, and you can still make it your own. Always fun to play. Was one of the top five money makers when I played the streets.

What is the song called? Who wrote it?
This is from a gig in 2011 at the Heritage Grill, a bar restaurant run by the mafia in Vancouver. They used to do many drug deals in the back room. They had live music every night. The place burned down last year, no doubt for the insurance money. This was our only live gig with this singer, when she guested on 4 songs.

This one goes out to Jesse, who requested 'Change is now' by the Byrds. I don't do straight covers. I try to make a new song out of a request if possible, and then use it as an improvisation vehicle. Here I based the jam around the solo section. You can request any song on Patreon for $100. For yourself or as a gift, birthday anniversary, etc. I dedicate it to whomever you want and post the video. Takes me a whole day to to do this: Make backing track, play, film and audio processing, etc. One of the only ways I can make guitar income now. Remember, youtube does not pay me a dime. All support comes from donation links below. My new book 'The Joys of busking' is also up for download. It's my busking diary from 2019. You get all the in depth details of my life on the street. Send minimum $10 paypal tip and I mail you the pdf.

Live from the woods in the middle of nowhere, this ten minute Pink Floyd jam was heard by neighbours a half mile away. (They applauded) I'm playing an outdoor summer wedding while wearing a three piece suit. Very rock and roll. Totally improvised.
