Private Guitar Lesson - Alternate chords in the key of E.
An excerpt from an online (ZOOM) guitar lesson. Songs in the key of E, played on guitar, can be some of the most expressive on a standard-tuned guitar if you use alternate chords. "Alternate chords" refer to chords other than the plain-vanilla chords you might see on a chord sheet, and in the case of E major, there would be only 2 chords (E and A major) that are not barre chords. Given the standard tuning of the guitar, alternate chords use many open strings that ring out as you change chords. Further, they are easier to play and have a more complex and expressive sound. More to come on this subject!
An excerpt from a ZOOM private guitar lesson (hence the non-HD quality). In this lesson I discuss intervals and inversions of intervals and how to incorporate them into your playing. In this example I'm using the key of D, but this works the same way in ANY key. As a reminder, the chords in the key of D are: D, Em, F#m, G, A, Bm, C#dim. They can all be accomplished with 2 fingers in an easy to remember pattern~! Enjoy! The purpose of this video is simply to help other guitar players and is intended for all audiences.
