Radio Free Geneva: The SBC Traditionalists Struggle to Interact
Spent most of our time playing an attempted response from Leighton Flowers to our last program, and then played some more of David Allen's comments, including some pretty amazing examples of eisegesis and category errors. Numerous head-shaking moments in this one to be sure! I also mentioned we have three over-seas trips scheduled for 2017, so we need your help, with the first to South Africa coming up in March! http://store.aomin.org/travel.html Please help if you can!
At the end of the show, Rich played a sample of Tim Bushong's, A Mighty Fortress. Tim has released a Christmas album that, jarringly I'm sure for some, includes the full version of the Mighty Fortress riff he did for us. And you can get that album either as a cd or as a download (and help his daughter on a missions trip) at various links, such as
Caught up on a number of articles I had saved before I leave tomorrow for St. Charles and other locations (see the banner ads for details). Right before the program started Dr. Michael Brown published an article about Twitter’s banning (ready for this?) “deadnaming.” Yeah. Deadnaming. That’s like when you call Bruce Jenner…Bruce Jenner instead of “Caitlyn.” So, in other words, it is Twitter demanding you bow your knee to the insanity and join in! It’s only going to get worse, folks, believe me. Anyway, we talked a bit about an article warning about “interfaith dialogues,” we talked about the upcoming pre-conference at G3 on Social Justice, and I finished off discussing the fact that I joined the membership of Apologia Church (Pastor Jeff Durbin) on Sunday, and intend to do what I can to edify the saints there (and through that work many others, since Apologia definitely has a focus upon wide distribution of the preached and taught Word). Obviously, this will not change the mission or focus of Alpha and Omega Ministries, it will only mean I am teaching and preaching and fellowshipping in a different location on Sundays. Started off looking at issues relating to the rapid degradation of Western society, moved to a discussion of the upcoming debate in SoCal, and some comments relating to criticism posted of doing debates with Muslims over the weekend on FaceBook. Then we took calls on both the LGBT issue and on Romans 9.

Spent a little time on some comments made in an interview between Sam Harris and Bart Ehrman at the beginning of the program (after just a few minutes noting Jim Wallis’ extolling of James Cone) and then moved to calls. Spent way too much time trying to deal with a super technical call (I went back to it later when I was able to grab the relevant commentary from my system), and had to move past another call simply because I have not read the book being discussed and have stayed out of one particular theological controversy (shocking!). Managed to get through the others though! 90 minutes. Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/

Did you know God is not afraid of new things? Yeah, you’d expect that from some squishy emergent type hipster, but Pope Francis? Yep, Pope Francis. This pontificate is going to be very interesting. Hope my RC apologist friends have invested in Advil. Anyway, followed that up with a clip I heard on Immaculate Heart Radio last night from a fellow who may well qualify as the Jack Chick of Catholic apologetics, and then started taking calls. Almost managed to get through the program without any references to last week’s eschatology discussion, but Rich snuck in one last call!

Managed to sneak in a third Dividing Line this week (since I have no idea what the next few weeks will bring, for, uh, medical reasons). Yup, talked a bit more about fairness, consistency, etc., and then moved on to a bit more on textual criticism, traditionalism, and the Comma Johanneum. I don’t know when the next DL will be, but, we will let folks know here, on Twitter, and on Facebook. Unless, of course, we get kicked out of social media before then!

Went over a number of smaller items, Tweets and the like, at the start of the program, but eventually focused in on Ibram Kendi’s presentation at a church recently wherein he described the difference between Liberation Theology and what he called Savior Theology, and how to be an “antiracist” is to reject Savior Theology. He made these comments while seated in front of the inscription of The Great Commission from Matthew 28 right behind him, which, if considered properly, is an excellent refutation of his position. Also, don’t forget this coming Thursday we will be joined by Dr. Joseph Boot of the Ezra Institute, author of The Mission of God, to discuss a whole gamut of topics, from Bill C6 in Canada to R2K Theology. I promised to eventually get around to Pastor Mike Winger’s video on the “Achilles Heel of Calvinism,” as it had been sent to me at least a dozen times by different folks, and so today we got to it, even though we were up against the Kavanaugh hearings which probably shrank the audience a good bit (Rich says we still have over 400 watching on YouTube). In any case, spent right at 90 minutes playing portions and responding to brother Winger’s comments. Lots of important ground in the debate covered and clarified. We spent today looking at the argument of Dr. Douglas Stauffer in his attempted defense of the King James Bible relating to Titus 2:13, specifically. Of course, we provided a lot of background, dove into the text, even took at look at P72, the earliest papyri manuscript of 2 Peter (another Granville Sharp Construction location). So if you are into the history of the Bible, the KJV issue, witnessing to Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc., this is a program for you! Visit the store at https://doctrineandlife.co/
