#DenverShooting #9News #KUSA An unlicensed private security guard who shot and killed a man at a protest in Denver was not the first unlicensed guard hired by KUSA, the TV station is reporting. Matthew Doloff, 30, is facing 2nd degree murder charges for the shooting and killing of 49-year-old Lee Keltner during dueling Denver rallies on Saturday, Oct. 10. Pinkerton, a well-known private security firm, was the company used by KUSA to hire Doloff, but Pinkerton said Doloff was a subcontractor from another company. Crews were covering the concurrent “Patriot Muster” and “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive" rallies. It appears from footage that some kind of altercation preceded the shooting. In several videos now surfacing, Keltner made mention that he did not want to be recorded and in one video said that if someone took his picture he'd "light you the f**k up." Since Doloff was soon found to have no license to act as a security guard in Denver, he likely did not complete the required training. According to KUSA's own reporting, "There are 16 hours of required training to receive a security guard license. Then, there are eight hours of additional security guard training each year for a license to be renewed." KUSA says this isn't the first time, either. They report that four other guards, in addition to Dolloff, provided security to 9NEWS crews since June 2020 with no license at all. "For example, the security guard working for 9NEWS on Sept. 23 - when a car drove through a protest following the grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case - was not licensed," KUSA says on its website.
