The characteristics of Ditang Fist are mainly caused by falling and tumbling movements. In addition to striking methods, most of them use the principle of leverage to knock down the enemy and capture them by catching and control the joints of the opponent. However, part of it is that when the enemy launches an attack, the suddenly falls to the ground in front of the enemy, scaring the opponent, and when he uses his distraction, immediately turns to defend. If you want to achieve this, your body must be quite soft and responsive. In actual combat, the distance to the enemy, the time and opportunity to attack are all very important.

Shaolin Staff is a very bold and powerful weapon, symbol of Shaolin warrior monks fighting skills in history. Like all Shaolin forms, the movements are linear and the staff can be practiced in small restricted spaces and on any type of grounds. However, the staff techniques are also very versatile and can be used to one's advantage as a defensive weapon.
The staff is highly symbolic of Shaolin Temple's thousand years history. The warrior monks have acquired a profound wisdom and thoroughly mastered their staff fighting skills.

Shaolin Temple of Canada Performs at Local Karate Tournament.
Today, the organizers of the 2019 Sato Cup specially invited Master Shi Yandi (释延荻) and several students from the Shaolin Temple of Canada to perform Kung Fu at the tournament, with over four hundred karate athletes spectating.
The Sato Cup is an annual Karate BC tournament, featuring competitors of various ages and levels from clubs across the province. Like in previous years, this year’s tournament took place at the Student Athletic Centre at the BCIT Burnaby Campus.
The demonstration began with students doing a synchronized performance of the continuous chain fist routine (Chinese: 连环拳; pinyin: lian huan quan), followed by a Shaolin staff routine by Master Yandi. The students have been practitioners of Kung Fu for three months to over a year, having rehearsed for a month in preparation for the event.
Shaolin Temple of Canada been established only a little over a year ago, and was honoured to get the chance to perform at a large-scale event like the Sato Cup. The objective of this performance was to build community among martial artists. Several karate competitors directly approached Master Yandi after the demonstration, expressing interest in Shaolin Kung Fu.
True to their form, the two martial arts disciplines share many similarities in terms of technique and style due to having similar origins. Many techniques in Karate are also in the Shaolin Kung Fu repertoire.
The Shaolin Temple of Canada hopes to do more collaborations with Karate BC and other martial arts organizations in the near future.
