There are tons of benefits to getting fit and healthy. What you hear mostly is improving markers of health. But really… why should you get healthy? Lowing your risk of heart attack and improving insulin sensitivity are both great. Buuuuuut they don't really get you moving more.
I like to look at the real tangible quality of life improvements of getting healthy. Doing more of the things you love and being less tired and sore after doing them! So... why should you get healthy? So you can better live your life the way you want to!

This movement routine is a circuit of several exercises designed to move your hips through a large range of motion and strengthen them in positions we don't often use in daily life anymore. The exercises are basic versions and can be scaled up as you get stronger.
Since this routine is designed to be done as a circuit, you should go through it 3 to 5 times. The idea is that the circuit be challenging but be something you could do everyday. Regular use of your hips through large ranges of motion is essential to maintain strong, healthy joints.

All too often changing old habits and starting a new healthy lifestyle is complicated. Not to fear! Today I'm offering 2 simple tips to improve your health. In fact, these 2 tips are so simple you can start now!
Simple tip number 1 is just to move more. The average American spends 6-8 hours a day sitting! This has some pretty major long-term health implications. So, if you want to improve your health, you're going to have to move more. No need to get fancy. Start by going for a walk every day. If you can get out into nature while you do it, all the better.
Simple tip number 2 is to cut back the sugar. Sugar is in everything and if you're spending tons of time sitting, you don't need it. Start with a food log for a week so you can get an idea of how much sugar you're eating. Next, try to cut that amount by half. This can actually have a dramatic effect on your nutrition!

Welcome back! I want to share a stretch to help with your thoracic spine mobility and your shoulder mobility. Your shoulders and your thoracic spine work very closely together and if the muscles become bound up through here you'll lose significant mobility in both!
This is a pretty straightforward stretch, but there are some things you need to pay attention to to get the most from the stretch. I'll cover the key points to watch so you focus the stretch through your shoulders and upper back complex rather than your lower back.
A tight thoracic spine or shoulders can lead to your hips, lower back, or cervical spine having to make up for the lost range of motion. Keep this area mobile to minimize extra wear and tear on the surrounding areas and to keep the wrong muscles from compensating!

Doctor Ben, not a real doctor, here and today I'm sharing my little secret to make a sprain heal faster. This isn't some kind of trick and it'll work for sprained ankles, sprained knees, sprained fingers or any kind of sprain really!
Normally a sprain can take 12-18 months to heal completely, but I've had really good luck getting them to heal a lot faster by following normal protocols and adding this ointment.
