ebm-synth-jam-live-dawless-cyberpunk
Industrial EBM synth jam inspired by the cult cyberpunk movie Nemesis, cyberpunk literature of the eighties & nineties, Industrial music and aspects of the information overload of Emergency Broadcast Network, aka EBN.
I accidentally strayed into the firing line of one of EBN's "long range entertainment attacks" when I read about them in Future Music magazine, probably around 1995 - '378' was on the cover disc. Luckily, I was out of range of their 'golf bag rocket launcher' system.
Inactive at present, but check out the links to EBN's channel below if you're interested.

This track 'All-Machine' first came together as a rough jam I submitted to a local music & arts festival, which had to go online at short notice so the original idea was put together the weekend of the deadline. I went over by a couple of hours due to my slow upload speed but the organisers let me off and used the original footage for the online event :) so my initial concerns that my effort was too rough and ready proved unfounded as the ethos of the festival is to support local and regional artists along with more established acts and due to the short notice, rough and ready was the order of the day.
? See below for timestamps and the kit I'm using for this cyberpunk influenced industrial dark synth DAWless EBM jam ?

The dialogue is all from the same source in this version (Nemesis), admittedly, I'm using a large amount of samples from a single source, but I'm hoping I can claim fair use as it's a derivative work ;)
KIT-LIST: All-Machine
⚙ Arturia Minibrute 2s EBM bassline using it's own internal sequencer. I've set the user scale to half whole diminished, and manually reharmonise the bass line for the chorus, keeping it locked to this scale (as opposed to modulating the phrase up a minor third).
⚙ Novation Circuit - Percussion and sequencing. I'm not using either of the internal synths (turn them down in mixer view, muting kills MIDI) Only sequencer 2 is used in this track, to trigger my Volca FM.
⚙ Korg Monologue - I use 3 patches in this track, manually switching between for the different sections. Bit tricky to do via the dial! One of the patches is blank, so I can use it to cut the sound. The riff is a 9 step sequence, making it polymetric to the other parts running at 4/4 time signature.
⚙ Volca FM on lead, which I'm also running through my Boss DS-1 guitar distortion pedal and TC Electronic flashback triple.
⚙ AKAI MPX8 manually triggered speech samples - Source 'Nemesis' 1992 cyberpunk movie.
⚙ FX - TC Electronic Flashback Triple for delay.
⚙ Zoom CDR-70 Multi-stomp - 'Gritty Backwash'
⚙ Recorded into Bitwig, via stereo inputs
