Model ship deck making can take many forms, in this video, I show you how I make my deck boards and why I do it this way.
There is no wrong way, only different ways and I do not believe that any should be called "fake".
In your model ship making, you should always strive for historical accuracy, so for instance, research the size of the deck boards and try your hardest to recreate this look. Go slowly.
Russian Cruiser Aurora
Commissioned in 1896, the Pallada-class Russian cruiser was built in St Petersburg, intended for service in the Pacific.
Along with the two other in her class, Aurora served during the Russo-Japanese war, where she survived the Battle of Tsushima.
Aurora reportedly fired the first shots of the October Revolution, signalling the start of the attack on the Winter Palace.
"In 1917 the Aurora crew members were crucial participants in the February and October Revolutions as well as the following Civil War and simultaneous defence against foreign intervention.
In 1922–1923, the Aurora was one of the first ships to be commissioned for service as a training ship, and served as such until 1940, allowing cadets from naval schools to complete their sea time practice. During these years, the cruiser also visited lots of foreign ports.
In 1924, the cruiser was awarded the Red Banner of the CEC of the USSR and the Order of the Red Banner in 1927."

5th Ave, also known as millionaire row, is well known for its opulence and shopping. What is not known by people who are not in the know, is that 5th avenue is also home to many exclusive clubs. These clubs have opened their doors to countless wealthy upper classes through the years. Big names to have walked through the doors of these clubs, include; Ronald Regan, Thomas Eddison, Nicola Tesla and many many more.
High-society events which take place at these elite venues include Weddings, Gala-dinners, and Business or Social events.
These clubs are places of power and thus have had many interesting antiques added to their collections through the years. I have spent many years in these institutions, not as a member but as a restorer of their precious and unique pieces.
One particularly grand project I have undertaken, was in The Metropolitan club. This project was a renovation of The President's foyer, on the second floor. This is where all the oil paintings of Presidents reside. My brother Boris and I worked for three months to complete the restorations work needed.
We prepared the moldings for restoration by cleaning, fixing and in some places rebuilding the Stucco, with campo and Jesso. All of this work was in preparation for gold leafing and gold leaf restoration. We used 23-carat gold leaf in our biggest project that year, by way of the quantity of gold leaf used. We also restored the beautiful skylight and its gold leaf. This was the biggest restoration project in the world that year and it won an award.

*New Video* enjoy this look at my latest mosaic, Altamira, inspired by the cave art in the Altamira caves of northern Spain, not far from the village of Antillana del Mar in Cantabria. The Upper Paleolithic cave complex at Altamira is famous for its magnificent multi-coloured cave painting, as well as its rock engravings and drawings.

This mythological dragon, is a depiction of mystery and folklore, from the times when we humans still lived in caves. My inspiration was drawn from my love of the caves and cave art at Altamira, in Cantabria.
He is a large beast, measuring 4.2m long.
To create this relief of his body, I used 10x10x10 mm marble and 10x10x3mm limestone pieces, these helped create the texture of his skin and scales
It is a 3d installation, to create the illusion of grandeur, where it resides now in a private collection in NY.
I'm releasing this video today as it St George's Day in many countries across the world.

A mosaic recreation, of Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies pond with Japanese Bridge” inspired by the master who has been my preferred artist for many years.
The Mosaic measures 1.80m x I. 50m and is made from limestone and marble pieces.
Being a passionate horticulturalist, when Monet purchased the land in Giverny, on which this pond stands, in 1893, it was for the purpose of building something “for the pleasure of the eye and also for motifs to paint.”
Being very near to his home, this allowed Monet ample time to observe and create the masterpieces we know and love today.
In the summer of 1899, he began a series of eighteen views of the wooden footbridge over the pond, completing twelve paintings, including the one we see here in the mosaic.
