As it turns out, the problems I had when running the Kel-Tec P3AT through my Shoot and Move course were just the beginning. That same afternoon, during what I hoped would be a simple accuracy test, this tiny .380 pistol from Kel-Tec jammed on me over and over. I'd like to give it the benefit of the doubt and say the problems were caused by the dusty environment and the fact that it had probably never been cleaned well, but the data doesn't lie, and one thing is certainly true; I've got trust issues with this gun.

Action Target recently introduced their PT Gong kit, including "The Last Stand" hinges and brackets. I Liked it when I first checked it out, but now that I've got a few hundred rounds on it, do I feel different?

On a recent shooting excursion, I was visited by a ranger whose job it is to clean up some of the larger trash left in the desert by shooters. It's left to him to also enforce no-dumping laws in those areas. After conversing with him briefly I was reminded of the need for all of us shooters - who use public lands for firearms training and recreation - to keep those lands clean. Large swaths of land that were previously open and free for this kind of use have been closed off. Rangers now patrol those areas, and the remaining open areas to cut down on dumping. Larger areas will be closed down if the dumping continues, so it's up to us - the people who use these lands - to take our trash away when we go, and "leave no trace".
I freely admit that I have left trash in those public lands in the past, but I learned quickly how harmful that behavior is to everyone that uses those lands, so I don't - and won't - do it anymore. Open, public land is such a valuable resource to shooters, since so much of the defensive training we need to do can only happen out there. If we're left to local, controlled ranges, we'll be so limited in the type of shooting we can do, that our defensive rights will really mean very little. I hope I'm preaching to the choir here, and to the rest - I'm sorry for nagging, but this is something that we all really need to do. When you go shooting, please take your shells and your trash home with you.
