I wrote this in the shower when I was trying to come up with verses for Oh Darlin' a couple years ago. I didn't think much of it at the time, but recently decided to revisit it as a B-side. It's one of those songs that writes itself, and needs the right distress in life to come out.
I wanted the video to be a couple's ballet on the stage of Stern Grove, but I couldn't get a camera or people to do it. For now, all I could use is dashcam footage driving through San Francisco back in May 26th.
I wrote this song on 26 November 2018 as an ironic soundtrack to our college short-film project ??? ???, for which I did the sound and editing. I yodeled generic words of heartbreak in the chorus, trying to seem vintage with a Wall of Sound.
The film had issues from conflicting ideas and duration limits, but the song surprisingly received a lot of interest. However when it premiered, I only ever made what was heard in the film (a mushy edit of the chorus and part of the guitar in the verse) and wasn't sure how I'd finish it, ideas coming to me here-and-there at night or in the shower. After a long wait, I'd say it's finally done. Hope people enjoy.
