If you're in the market for a new tactical light, you might be wondering whether to go with an LED or an LEP model. That's where I come in - I'm here to show you the differences between these two types of flashlights so you can make the right choice.
In this video, we'll be taking a closer look at the Nextorch T10L (LEP) and the Nextorch TA30 Max (LED). One of the biggest differences between these two lights is the beam profile. The LED option, the TA30 Max, has a larger hotspot, a usable spill, and a whopping 4x the lumen output of the T10L.
When it comes to pure practicality, the TA30 Max is the clear winner. Its wide beam profile and good throw make it an excellent choice for a tactical flashlight. But if you're all about the cool factor, you can't beat the T10L! With its lightsabre style beam, and tactical, rotational switch design, It's a unique and impressive light that's sure to turn heads.
So, whether you're looking for the most practical option or something a little more flashy, this video has you covered. I hope it helps you make an informed decision and find the perfect tactical flashlight for your needs.

Wurkkos HD50 Video Transcript
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• This is one beast of a headlamp! 4000 lumens and three different beam modes. I've used this headlamp for a week now and I'm impressed at how much value you get at this price point.
• What you get in the box: 21700 cell, manual, headband
• Comparison with HD15, HD20. The build quality of the HD50 stands out when compared to the other two - the anodizing and machining feel higher quality.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• The machining is excellent, especially at this price point. The anodizing is even better - matt black and grippy. Reminds me of the anodizing on my TD01C. Operated by two buttons - one turns the light on and off, and the other cycles between modes. They are made of rubber and require a firm press to activate the switch.
• Come with an adjustable headband. Easier to install and remove due to the design of the cutouts. I like that you can swivel it around easily too. If you remove the light, you can use it as a general work light or even EDC it.
• The light takes a 21700 cell (wurkkos branded) and unscrews from one end. I noticed the wall of the battery tube is thicker on one end? Other users have noted the same design on their model. Magnetic tail.
• Three LEDs/beams. Middle houses an XHP50.3HI (5700-6000K) for maximum throw, OP reflector probably to reduce beam artefacts. Two frosted TIR lenses housing LH351D (5000K, 90CRI) and Latticepower XG 660nm. There is a vibration feature that alerts you when the battery has been inserted the wrong way around, or battery voltage drops too low.
UI - modes
• Press the power button to turn it on (remembers the last mode). Press the switch button to cycle between modes (spotlight, floodlight, spot+flood, red). Press and hold either button to cycle between LMH. Double press in each mode for turbo.
• From OFF - long press either button for moonlight.
• Press both buttons to lock/unlock.
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CCT, CRI.
• Very throwy when using center beam but no ringiness. The other two LEDs produce nice floody beams, very practical for up close work or walking.
Considerations
• Gets hot in high/turbo mode when used for long durations. The headband insulates the light if you're wearing it on your head. A buck driver would have been ideal in this light.
• Large - while it's one of the 'smaller' 21700 headlamps out there, this is certainly chunkier than most of my other headlamps. With that said, it's surprisingly comfortable on my head.
Verdict
One of the best-value multi-LED headlamps out there. Most headlamps come with one LED, which is suited for short-range activities. The throw on the XHP50.3HI is incredible, especially considering how small the reflector is in this headlamp. Probably my favorite out of all the Wurkkos headlamps I've reviewed so far. If you're looking for a well-priced headlamp and work light, I'd recommend it.

Get 10% off the Wurkkos FC-12 here: https://amzn.to/3BSvbqI (Affiliate link)
In this video, I review the Wurkkos FC-12. This is a 2000+ lumen tactical flashlight powered by one 18650 battery.
I don't have many thrower flashlights. The reason being, they're difficult to carry around. Most have large reflectors, and even the ones with TIR lenses have larger heads, which stick out of your pocket.
With the FC-12, you don't have that issue. This light has a deep but narrow reflector that allows you to easily slip it into your pocket or on your belt without any fuss. The FC-12 comes with a Luminus SFT-40 emitter (I have the 6500K version) that produces in excess of 2000 lumens! When you turn it on, you realise that this light has some SERIOUS throw. I estimate that it reaches between 350 - 400 metres (visibly).
For approximately $30 on Amazon, it's budget-friendly, and you don't need to sacrifice on quality either. The finish on this light is smooth and even, the threads are square cut and anodised nicely. This light is made out of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium. Machining is solid, I couldn't spot any flaws in mine (I have the champagne-coloured one). The best thing is that it comes with everything you need. You get a new battery, double-sided clip, lanyard, USB-C charging cable and user manual.
With a spring bypass mod to the head and tail cap, I'm sure it could throw even further. I like that it comes with a double-sided clip. These are very versatile - you can clip the light to the front of your hat and becomes a makeshift headlamp!
One of my favourite features of this light is the tactical switch. I don't have any other tactical lights, and in the beginning, I thought it was gimmicky. But boy I was wrong! You can access turbo and any other brightness level from a half-press of the tail switch. It feels different, more solid in my hand - it forms part of my fist and is very discreet due to the size. To access turbo from tactical mode, you need to be in smooth ramping mode, and ramp right to the top. I find it to be a very convenient and natural way to provide a momentary blast of light.
Don't get me wrong - it's not the brightest thrower out there. But that's not the point. You can't carry those around easily. SBT 90.2 lights also weigh more and require more juice to run. The FC-12 ticks all my boxes for a light that you can chuck in your pocket/bag, take everywhere and light up an entire alley, or dark street from a long distance.
Sometimes, the best flashlight is the one you can keep on you easily, and this is the one I keep on grabbing before I head out into the night.
Do you have any questions about this light? Would you carry one of these around? Let me know in the comments below.

I review the Wuben E1 (G4). This is a unique EDC flashlight that attaches to the back of your phone.
Correction: the Wuben E1 weighs 36 grams. I mentioned 80 grams in the video.
Wuben provided me a pre-production sample of the E1 for the purpose of this review. I was not paid to make this video. I have not held back on any negative opinions of this light.

Wuben E1 (G4) Video Transcript:
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So as many of you know, Wuben is always pushing the boundaries of the traditional flashlight… and they have recently sent me a sample of their new creation. This is the Wuben E1 (otherwise known as the G4). It's a sleek, low-profile light that seems to be targeted to influencers, photographers, or anyone looking for a compact flashlight that attaches to your phone. It's 10x brighter than your photo flashlight and is basically a miniature ring light. Now, if you have a Magsafe case with your iPhone, it will mount magnetically without any modification. However, if you have an Android phone, you'll need to use the included magnetic pad. You can use the E1 as a fill light, for low-light photography, a work/reading light, a selfie light, or as an extra slim EDC. It's also a phone stand!
• What's included in the box: I have a sample package, which comes with the light and a magnetic stand.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Made of magnesium alloy, well machined with no rough spots. Magnesium is 66% the weight of aluminium, which is why I initially mistook that the light was made of plastic initially. It's just so light @ 80 grams! This makes sense, as my phone is heavy enough as is, you don't want to be making your phone even heavier. But end of the day, the light is so small that it won't make a huge difference. Wuben will also release a titanium version. The magnesium version comes with black/white anodizing.
• Operated by one switch, reminds me of a watch crown.
• 28X SMD3030 LEDs. Three different tints - cool, neutral, warm white. 300 lumen turbo mode. The battery indicator is on the bottom left of the LED array.
• 320mAh lithium polymer battery - will sustain low 2-lumen mode for 50 hours, or 300 lumens for 30 mins. USB-C charging.
UI - modes
• Press and hold to turn on and off. The crown can be rotated each way to control brightness. Press once when on to change tint (cool, neutral, warm white)
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• Floody, even light for close-range use. Sustained output!
Considerations
• Battery is only 320mAh - won't last long on higher modes. Good news is most phones can reverse charge so you could use a short USB-C cord for extended runtime.
• Not as bright as most tube lights. But the heat regulation is excellent. Having those smaller SMD LEDs help. It's also more portable than a normal tube light.
• Would be better with high CRI LEDs.
Verdict
The Wuben G4/E1 is the perfect EDC light if you're the type of person who's always fumbling around for your phone flashlight. You'll appreciate something more powerful and easier to switch on. Not everyone wants to carry around a fully-fledged tube light. I like how the G4 doubles as a fill light and general photography light. I've been stuck without adequate ambient light, and would've been good to have this on hand. The sustained output is impressive in a light of this size.

So I decided to experiment with another type of painting… light painting! What do you think? You can learn how to create an orb effect easily in this short light painting tutorial. I'll show you how to paint a simple orb in two minutes and add some splashes of colour to the surround areas.
I posted the final photos here: https://watercolourmentor.com/from-watercolour-to-light-painting/
Since I was a kid, I’ve had an interest in electronics and flashlights. I remember my mum taking me to Dick Smith Electronics over in Perth to buy capacitors and resistors for different projects I was working on. I’ve been thinking of ways to integrate that side of things with my art.
Anyway, I reached out to @Ledlenser Australia to see if they wanted to collaborate. Over September, I ended up creating a series of short light painting videos and photographs! Ledlenser kindly provided me with two of their flashlights, the P6R Core QC and P7R Work UV. I used both for these shots (and upcoming videos). I own the P17 and used to own the P7 until it was stolen from my car, so thought it’d be fun to try out some of their newer lights.
So, what is light painting? It’s a photography technique where you use different light sources and tools to colour, draw and paint a subject. This can be a portrait, landscape, or everyday object.
I was drawn to light painting because of one similarity it shares with watercolour painting. The element of surprise! You never know exactly how it’ll turn out (good or bad). I found it strangely exciting waiting for the camera to process each exposure.
To create a light painting, you’ll need a camera, a light source (I use a flashlight), and a dark area.
Camera settings:
ISO 50-100
F10-18
Exposure 30 seconds+
Basically, you want a long exposure time paired with a low aperture and ISO. This is to ensure the camera captures the movements and areas that are lit up. Having the ISO on lower reduces grain and also makes sure the photo isn’t over-exposed due to the duration of the shot.
Have any questions? Let me know what you think below! -Darren
