Erecting a single pole vertically polarised 2 element yagi. The yagi is intended to beam signals over salt water and is claimed to have a low radiation angle suitable for long distance communication.
The antenna is made from thin wire supported by fishing poles. Watch this video to see how it is constructed and find out how successful it was on the air.

Things have just lately improved but for a while last year processing times for amateur radio exam and callsigns blew out to three times or more longer than mandated performance standards. Here I take a look at the amateur exam and callsign issue currently run by the Australian Maritime College for the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

Some thoughts on building a simple 4 element yagi for portable use from old TV antenna parts. .
It is based on plans by W5TX - see the 40 page pdf document at http://mysite.verizon.net/w5tx/ for a range of designs wih various element thicknesses and boom lengths. Or watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgQF7JYCXpo for the dimensions.
