With iPhones basically dominating the phone market, you might be wondering if a Mac would be the right computer for you. Everyone’s always talking about the “ecosystem” and how well Apple products work together. But would Apple’s best value Mac EVER be right for you?
In January 2023, Apple released the updated M2 Mac mini, as well as a much higher spec’d M2 Pro version. But if you’re looking to pick one up, perhaps taking the leap from Windows to Mac for the first time, which is right for you, should you upgrade it when you buy, and what will you need to make it fully set up and ready to go.

A predicted, we got iOS & iPadOS 14.4 along with new Apple Watch, HomePod and Apple TV software today. But this time, there are some potentially significant security holes that are being fixed in the software as well as the usual trivial bug fixes and the addition of Find my Stuff features.
These are what is known as Zero Day exploits, and while I’m no security researcher these are the ones you need to avoid. It basically means a security issue that is discovered because it is being actively used, not found and patched ahead of time. In other words, update your stuff right now.
The first describes a “malicious application that may be able to elevate privileges” and Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited, while the second is an issue with Webkit that runs the Safari Browser, allowing a remote attacker to cause an arbitrary code execution. Again, there have already been reports from two researchers that this issue may have been actively exploited.
There are of course also a bunch of mini feature updates like the support for Find My Stuff type devices, which really suggests we could be seeing AirTags soon, though we’ve been saying that for about 2 years at this point. There’s also support for U1 based handoff to HomePod mini from iPhone, so some fun reasons to update as well as the more terrifying and pressing security holes. So please pass that Update message on to your friends and family members too, as if you’re watching this, you’re probably the person they go to when their stuff gets broken on has an issue because of security issues.

#iCaveAnswers With A15 coming out in late 2021, do you think Apple will push out a M2 mac to match, or do you think they will try to milk the M1 still and put out a M1X in late 2021, even when the A15 becomes available? Or perhaps they will have both M2 and M1X macs for different pro level macs (just like they have A12, A13 and A14 iPhones for sale at the same time).

#icaveanswers when will bootcamp be available for m1 Macs? I know that apple is waiting for Microsoft to allow/work on that. But are there any news on how it is going?

#icaveanswers - So Dave, did you catch the Microsoft Windows 11 event? If so what new features of Windows 11, if any, do you wish would come to macOS?

Q1. Do you think Apple will drop lightning in the next year or two on the iPhone for USB C, as at that point the connection itself would be 10 years, as the port started on iPhone 5.
Q2. With Microsoft now formally announcing Windows 11 do you think the OS will be supported from Mac and do you think Apple will allow it due to the operating system supporting android apps?
Could this be seen as a conflict of interest (kind of)?
Q3. Is there anything you’d like to see Apple do with any of their products, features and or otherwise that you personally have a burning desire for?
Q4. Are there any other interests that you personally have that are connected to your fandom to Apple products personally, if so how are they integrated, what’s the relationship?
So for example some people use a Mac Mini into their home theatre set up, maybe even as a Plex/Emby server

#iCaveAnswers Which M1X products are you interested in potentially purchasing?
Like a lot of people , I’m super excited by the M1X MacBook Pro, what do you speculate the spec sheet might look like now we’ve had another month or so of rumours?
Do you have any dream features that would be great on the new Macs but we’re unlikely to actually see?
Also, what would you speculate on the prices of the M1X MBP, Mac Mini & iMac (?) now we’ve had some more speculation time (and no release date ?)

#icaveanswers - do you think we'll ever see the much rumored Screen Time for AppleTV finally come out? For a household with 4 kids and 3 AppleTV connected screens dotted around the house, it would be a game changer.

#iCaveAnswers so a friend asked me this and I didn't have a good answer... "I own an Intel MacBook Pro. Should I buy an M1 MacBook now or wait for "M1X"? He likes the idea of an even better M1 but likes the price of the current M1 MacBook Pro model.

The internet runs out of Apple News.
It seems like we were one of the first YouTube channels to pick up on Eddy Cue’s inadvertent event announcement, so yesterday’s video was pretty popular. And of course, there were people in the comments saying that this wasn’t confirmed, which I also said in the video.
But since then all the major Apple news platforms have picked up on it as well as Jon Prosser confirming that it fits with what he’s heard so I think we’re safe in assuming its accurate.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a leaker. I only report on what I find online, and I’ll tell you how credible I think it is. I’ll also let you know if I’m using my own logic to try to work out what will happen, or if we’re trying to fill in the pieces to make a more complete picture.
So with that out of the way, lets talk about what is likely to be announced on October 13th at the Apple Special event.

One of the questions i'm often asked is "what iPad should I get for gaming" - to which really the response unless you're an aspiring professional or competitive gamer can basically be any current iPad.
In this video I'm showing that not only can the current budget 10.2" iPad run what is basically a triple A console level game, but so can a three year old base model.
Call of Duty: Mobile is a free-to-play first-person shooter developed by TiMi Studios and published by Activision for Android and iOS. It was released on October 1, 2019. In its first month, the game had over 148 million downloads and generated nearly US$54 million in revenue, making it the largest mobile game launch in history. By the end of 2019, the game been downloaded over 180 million times within three months of its launch.

New Apple Stuff ships on May 21st
Today is AirTags and Purple iPhone 12 day, so if you pre-ordered fast enough you should be having shiny new toys dropping on their doorsteps, or, hopefully being carefully handed to you in a safely socially distanced way. Let me know in the comments if you have new stuff arriving today.
But, same day we’ll also have new things to order too - the now LEGENDARY iPad Pro with M1 inside. As well as that, the new Apple TV with THAT new remote, which may have a much anticipated feature that wasn’t announced, but more on that later, and also Apple’s new iMac 24” with M1, white bezels and all. And, we also finally know what the upgrades will cost
And of course, purple is the best colour so definitely get that one. Also just for context, the new iMac is thinner than the original iPhone, and only 1.1mm thicker than the Apple Watch on your wrist. I just kind of assume anyone watching this has one. Oh, and as I mentioned at the top, everything going on order from today starts shipping May 21st, based on meta data in Apple’s own press release, which has since been changed!
Old 12.9” Magic Keyboard works fine with new iPad
The monsters in Apple’s design team have heartlessly changed the 12.9” iPad Pro with M1 so you’re now FORCED to buy a new $350 Magic Keyboard. I know because I read it on the internet. Well, here’s the real story. The new iPad Pro M1 uses Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR Display… or Mini LED as we’ve called it for months in anticipation. This display panel is just a touch thicker, so it needs a little more space, and the overall device is about ½mm thicker.
That is easily enough, given Apple’s precise tolerances that the Magic Keyboard won’t quite fold flat with the new version inside… this is why Apple has released a new version to go with it. That being said, it’s perfectly good to still use as a keyboard dock, you can still charge your iPad Pro via the smart connector and USB-C power pass through. So all is not lost.
New Apple TV Remote MIGHT be findable after all!
So if you’re planning to pick up Apple’s new Apple TV when it goes on sale tomorrow (and ships May 21st) or even just the remote, you might just be able to keep track of that remote for way longer than before. That’s because, one of those features that people had been hoping for and then thought wasn’t coming… actually might be coming.
And once again, just like with the April event, its Siri giving the game away. What’s she done this time? Well if you ask Siri to find your Siri remote, you’re told that there’s no Siri remotes associated with your Apple ID - but if you ask about something that doesn’t have FindMy like an Apple Pencil, you’ll be told that those don’t work with FindMy.
