The villagers believe that Muthuvaduganatha Swami, who attained samadhi 190 years ago, continues to bless devotees with faith and devotion.
Moving to the story of the ruler of Semponnadi, who was born to Poovallavan and Kumari Ammayar. At the age of five, he was blessed by his father, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. His father's associates plotted to kill Muthuvaduganatha out of jealousy for his rightful claim to the throne. But instead of wealth, the mother valued her son's life greatly. She took her son, disguised him, and fled the kingdom in the dead of night.
When they reached a village named Paalamedu, they were taken in by Jegannathar, a wealthy man from that village. The surprising incident was that Jegannathar gifted them a palace rather than requesting the boy's identity.
Muthuvaduganatha Swami had a deep affinity for taming snakes since childhood. One day, while he was taming a wild bull, he fell asleep under a tree. When the villagers arrived and saw the scene, they were amazed to find him peacefully sleeping with a cobra hood protecting his head. He was no ordinary man but a sage, and Jegannathar recognized him as such, treating him like his own son.
Muthuvaduganatha Swami exhibited exceptional wisdom from a young age. He had profound devotion to the Goddess Varahi. Once, Jegannathar fell seriously ill. Despite numerous attempts by skilled physicians, his illness could not be cured. The sage simply placed his palm on Jegannathar's forehead and miraculously healed him with his divine touch.
"Afterwards, Muthuvaduganathar went with his mother to Azhagar Malai to receive various teachings from Swamigal. They settled in a town called Pattur and engaged in the task of educating children there. The people of that town called him 'Vathiyar Aiya'.
They established a magical assembly in Singampunari, located northeast of Pattur, to provide significant relief to the people. The magical assembly, known as 'Pithambarars', came and bestowed great blessings upon the people. Impressed by the miracles performed by Muthuvaduganathar, the people of Singampunari invited him to protect them. With the intention of helping them, Siddhar Singampunari also went there.
In Singampunari, the Vaikasi festival was taking place. The inhabitants of that town built the temple of their deity using magical spells. The Siddhar, who recognized the power of the temple, went there and said, 'I will embrace you, why? I must answer. Otherwise, I'll leave.' He asserted.
The colors of the magical spells moved the statue, and Siddhar's rage caused the statue to move from its base. Some of the people in the town, not understanding this, became angry with him. They tried to harm the Siddhar by throwing chili powder and placing broken glass and sharp objects in his path. But the Siddhar, with his divine power, turned them into flower petals and grains of rice, protecting himself from harm. However, recognizing his greatness, they all sought forgiveness from him. Once again, they approached him to remove the 'Pithambarars' from their village. Angry, Siddhar used his magical power to turn a snake into several snakes and chased them away. Siddhar resided in his house as a symbol of his power. Those who understood his greatness sought his forgiveness. They all agreed to send the 'Pithambarars' away from the village."
