The KBD8X MKII has, in my opinion, a major flaw when built with a half-plate. The excessive flex caused by the PCB cutouts along with the lack of plate on the alpha cluster makes the switch bottoms hit the case, making a terrible noise. In this video, we're replacing the brass half plate by a full carbon fiber alternative from ProjectKeyboards. The *terrible* spacebar you see on the typing test was fixed after the stream.
