Sometimes I get lucky with the meets, sometimes I don't. Here, after the eastbound Amtrak Train 44 Pennsylvanian with P42DC #109 passed by the old Irishtown Road grade crossing near Lancaster, I thought I had a bit of time before the westbound Train 43 would show up, but it surprised me about 30 seconds after the eastbound had passed, resulting in a rather poor video of P42DC #112. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFc9NTOBQEg

Part 2 of a series of photos taken during a tour of Amtrak's THORN interlocking tower in 2005. The former PRR Main Line tower dates from 1938 and is an uncommon example of a US&S CTC style machine in pre-war PRR service. Photos cover the tower's interior, the local interlocking and an interesting meet between an NS local freight and Amtrak Train 43. Also the commentary has a lot of neat history and tower related stories.

A pair of Pittsburgh Light Rail Vehicles use the center pocket track just north of Washington Junction to turn back south on a weekday afternoon. The first LRV, #4223, is shown departing and then taking a Clear signal down the Route 47L line to Library. The second LRV, #4237, pulls into the pocket from the south and then turns back to take a Diverging Clear (flashing green) signal for the Route 42 line to South Hills Village. Neither LRV was in service so it is possible they were training or maintenance related movements.
The present day location of the pocket track was where the PCC loop for the 47D Drake shuttle was located before the end of service

Amtrak catenary maintenance vehicle A16503 proceeding east on Harrisburg Line track #1 diverges over the 141 switch at ZOO tower's "JO" section under Girard Ave in West Philadelphia. Ultimate destination of the vehicle was unknown.
One can see the old track #4 Valley Flyover ramp heading to the west. This was finally removed from service around 2018, but the 143 switch to the line was only removed in ~2022 as is evidenced above.

After completing its inbound run, MBTA PCC #3268 heads around the Matapan Loop to platform and board passengers for the return to the Red Line connection at Ashmont near the end of the Friday morning peak. The 8 minute run to Ashmont typically sees two cars in service for the peak periods with one car off peak. Despite the snow and age of the cars, the PCCs were holding up well with no apparent faults.

In June of 2005 I went on a biking trip in the Lehigh Gourge between White Haven and Mach Chunk along the old CNJ right of way. This set of photos actually doesn't cover the bike trip, but it goes cover the excursion I took on the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern operated Lehigh Gourge Scenic Railway afterwards. Also included are photos from the North Philadelphia Amtrak station on the final day of operation for NORTH PHILADELPHIA tower.
