Exclusive to this remake, you’ll access a new place called the Cave of Trials. In basement 8 of the cave, approach a weapon called Apollo’s Harp, but in order to take it, you must first have a duel with a Gigas Worm. The Gigas Worm has no spells, but its physical attacks are quite strong, and it will counter if you attempt to hit it with an attack of your own. Be sure to have Rosa and Porom with your team, because they specialize in spells such as healing and protection. After the battle, Apollo’s Harp will be all yours.

After a 48-win streak at the Battle Arcade, you’ll battle Dahlia once more. Her Zapdos could be the hard part, but if you have a move like Stone Edge, it shouldn’t be a problem. Blaziken will use Superpower to cause massive damage but its stats will lower in the process. The start of the stage has penguins releasing eggs. There are also dragonflies flying around, so be on alert for that as well. Descend once and you’ll take on a rough jackhammer. As more dragonflies appear, cross over the spike pits. After encountering a hopper, shoot the egg that turn into floating tadpoles to clear the path. After clearing the path, go up a ladder to take on some hoppers. Go up another ladder and you’ll next see giant penguins releasing smaller units. Descend and cross over the spike pits while avoiding the dragonflies. Cross a large spike pit and enter the cap doors to take on Gemini Man. Gemini Man will split into 2 enemies and shoot as you’re shooting. Using the Search Snake makes it easier. After half the health is depleted, the duplicate enemy will vanish, and Gemini Man will shoot a laser that bounces off the walls. Defeat this boss to receive the Gemini Laser weapon.

Steven can only be battled in the Champions Tournament. He uses some Steel types while the other half of his team is revived from fossils. Metagross will use Zen Headbutt to make opponents flinch and strike first using Bullet Punch. Aggron holding an Air Balloon will use Head Smash while the Rock Head ability prevents recoil damage and Metal Burst to counter any attack. Excadrill will use Sandstorm to make its Sand Rush ability take effect and Rock Slide to make opponents flinch. Archeops will use Quick Attack to strike first and Acrobatics after the Sitrus Berry is consumed. Cradily will use Stone Edge for critical hits. Armaldo will use Rock Blast to strike 2-5 times and Superpower with a White Herb restoring the lowered stats for once. Moves like Scald and Flamethrower work best for this round.

Mistralton City’s gym contains giant fans that blow every few seconds, so quickly find green floors by walls to take cover. If you’re caught by the fans, you’ll be sent back to start or a couple of spaces by the wall behind you. Navigate a windy maze and you’ll spot the gym leader. Skyla uses Flying type Pokémon. Swoobat will use Attract to stun opposite genders and Heart Stamp to make them flinch. Skarmory will use Agility to speed up and Steel Wing to raise its Defense stat. Swanna will use Featherdance to sharply lower the Attack stat of foes and Roost to restore HP. After your victory, you’ll obtain the Jet Badge and a TM62 (Acrobatics). This move usually has a base power of 55, but if the user doesn’t have possession of an item, the move will do double the damage.

If you interact with one of the guards inside the Dreadnought, you’ll have to battle against a Captain. A Captain is far more stringer than a Sargeant as its physical attacks deal massive damage to one target. It can even shoot arrows to deal multiple hits. Training is important before you take on these guards. After the battle, continue to explore the Dreadnought.

You’ll battle a few trainers as you navigate the maze. Once you solve the maze, you’ll take on Giovanni once more. Giovanni uses Ground type Pokémon. Nidoqueen will use Body Slam to paralyze targets while Nidoking will use Thrash to repeat for 2-3 turns then become confused. Both Rhyhorn will use Scary Face to slow down opponents and the Rock Blast for 2-5 hits. After winning, you’ll receive the Earth Badge and a TM26 (Earthquake). Earthquake is a Ground type move that strikes everyone else on the field and can strike those who use Dig.
