NAVY AIR CRASH 10 LOST
When a Korean War era Martin Mariner PBM5 aircraft crashes in the Sea of Japan on Christmas 1952 the effects are felt over one half century later. The news papers of the time claimed that of the 14 men that were aboard the ill fated craft that Christmas only 4 would survive. If survivors of any tragedy are to be counted realistically one would have to include those family members that are forced to endure the pain and sorrow of lost loved ones.
The implications of the Butterfly Effect are a strange phenomenon with repercussions that in this case have influenced people not even born at the time of the tragedy. An deadly airplane crashes in 1952, a series of letters written in 1957 and then more in 1999 and yet more correspondence by email in 2014 set the production of this video in motion.
This is an emotional story of painful loss and healing in the discovery of a film found on the internet that would bring two men together that were bound to this event by entirely different circumstances. One survived the crash that night and one was born just months after the crash.
This production contains period film, photographs and documents that were used to produce a video about the crash that occurred in 1952.This video tells the story of what happened to the crew that December 26, 1952 off the coast of Korea while in the US families celebrated Christmas day. It tells the story of Boat #12 a Martin Mariner PBM5, Patrol Squadron VP-47, BNUR 84787.
