Why do narcissists lie so much?! Narcissists Lie To Themselves, So They Can Lie To You! If you have ever talked to a narcissist for more than 5 minutes, you have realized that narcissists are liars! They tell lies to manipulate people and get their way. These people can be charming and nice in short interactions (or simply the people walking next to you on the street) but when they want something they will stop at nothing to get it. There are three main reasons why narcissists lie so much: 1. to cover their tracks 2. to avoid responsibility 3. to serve their own needs. These are all important to keep in mind because, ultimately, we can't expect them to behave any other way (change). Of course, when it comes to asking questions and trying to get the truth out of a narcissist - its a lot harder than it sounds and they're likely to gaslight and manipulate you into continuing to believe their stories. Can narcissists change this? You have to remember that by the very nature of their personality disorder, narcissists don't have the ability to bare their souls and reveal themselves in all their honesty and imperfection because they are consumed by fear. They are ruled by the fear of not being loved by others. They live by the credo "to be or not to be". Narcissists lie because they want to maintain power over you - another common trait of narcissistic personality disorder. I discuss the reasons why a narcissist would lie. This is the most overlooked behavior of any narcissist. They love telling people what they want to hear, but they really don't like answering questions! Narcissists and Sex: Porn Addiction and the Madonna Whore Complex (Narcissistic Abuse Recovery) In today's video, I'm talking about how some narcissists have the Madonna Whore complex, which is defined officially as: "the inability to maintain sexual arousal within a committed, loving relationship.[1] First identified by Sigmund Freud, under the rubric of psychic impotence,[2] this psychological complex is said to develop in men who see women as either saintly Madonnas or debased prostitutes. Men with this complex desire a sexual partner who has been degraded (the whore) while they cannot desire the respected partner (the Madonna).[3] Freud wrote: "Where such men love they have no desire and where they desire they cannot love."[4] Clinical psychologist Uwe Hartmann, writing in 2009, stated that the complex "is still highly prevalent in today's patients".[3]" This relates to narcissists and sex, why they cheat and how they become addicted to porn.
