The Future of Your Operating System: The Good, The Bad, But Mostly Ugly
In this video I bring up the topic of where one possible future of operating systems lie based on recent announcements a few days ago from Meta, and the direction the tech giants are taking the industry.
We should be asking some very pointed questions...
Today I will be comparing Exokernel Operating Systems with "Traditional Operating System" like Linux, MacOS and Windows.

Today I am looking at the FreeRADIUS opensource package which I use in my home network to add additional security for WIFI and OpenVPN. I will show you what it does, a bit about how it works, and how it can become another layer in either your home or corporate security solution

Endless OS is a beautifully made distribution based on Debian 11 Bullseye with updated kernel, packages and the latest Flatpak applications. It is designed to be a place to learn, share and explore the world around us as well as to learn new skills to help you in finding your first job or maybe even moving over into a new area.
It is good to see the creators of these new distributions taking the time to make them both appealing and interesting.

Today's video is an introduction of Google's Fuchsia OS, I am looking at some of the basic architecture, comparing it at a high level to Linux which is the kernel on which Android and ChromeOS is based. I also look at why Google is building this OS and what some of the benefits we would gain from using it.

Clear Linux is a rolling release, which is tuned for Intel (and AMD) machines. Clear Linux doesn’t just optimize a few things and call it a day, this team optimizes the kernel, the libraries, the compilers, the math libraries, the middleware layers…yeah everything
Security is also a focus for this release and is enabled from the end user, Edge and Cloud. Clear Linux constantly scans for CVEs and makes sure they get patched as soon as possible
Clear Linux is a stateless OS, it uses strict separation between the user and system files, to make things easier to customize and maintain
Clear Linux is built for efficiency…90% of the components packages into bundles are consistent and scalable for more than 4000 components
IONOS and Phoenix say this distribution is the fastest available, today I put it to the testChapters

The Linux Internal series continues with a look at three kinds of RAIDs: Firmware, Hardware and Software RAID. I will take a look back in time to discuss why RAID came to be, and what some of its pitfalls are. I also take a look at the different raid levels and even a couple of hybrid raids.
I personally think RAID in its current form is outdated, there are better technologies which are available now, that can scale up to the storage demands of even the largest organizations. For home users RAID is probably still viable. The only RAIDs I trust are hardware RAIDs and ZFS (yeah that includes TrueNAS). TrueScale I do not yet trust, but only because it is new.
