RECPE FOR ROSE WATER If using fresh petals, use cold water. If using dried petals, use hot water. Pick enough petals to fill a jar of your choosing ensuring that the roses have not been sprayed or damaged. Fill the jar with water and a small dash of vodka. Put on the lid and leave to stand for three days. Shake the jar occasionally. After three days, strain out the rose petals and decant the water into your final container. The water should smell of roses. Add a couple of drops of Rose essential oil to preserve and that's it. I made a lot last year and kept the excess in the fridge, topping up my bathroom bottle as needed. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ4ZU1m8ieI
Today I have a sore throat and Sage tea is the antidote. I forgot to mention that any medicinal herbal teas should be allowed to infuse for about 15 minutes to ensure that all the volatile oils and healing constituents have been extracted by the hot water. I also added a couple of teaspoons of my Blackberry oxymel for extra benefits. Try it your self and leave a comment on how you like it. You can visit my website at www.danusirishherbgarden.com. I have two herb books for sale The Weed Handbook Vol 1 and Vol 2 which are full of information about those weeds that everyone can find.

Thank you so much for watching - here is the recipe for the Carrrageen Skin Lotion
A small handful of dried Carrageen - you can get from health stores, supermarkets and delicatessens.
Cover with water and simmer for about 20 minutes until it becomes very gloopy.
Strain through a sieve, pushing as much through the sieve with the back of a spoon.
Add couple of tablespoons of Aloe Vera Gel and drizzle in about tablespoons of the oil of your choice - e.g Sunflower oil, Sweet Almond oil , Hazlenut oil
Whisk all together and add organic essential oils if desired. Pour into a clean receptacle and use liberally.
Let me know how you get on making yours.

Lughnasadh Oatcakes Recipe.
I took the recipe from Delia Smith's Cookbook and slightly adapted it.
12oz Whole Spelt flour
4oz Oat flour - which I made from Oat flakes in a coffee grinder
10z Oat flakes
8oz butter at room temperature
2 tsps baking powder
1tsp salt
1/2 to 1 tsp curry powder
Small drop of milk to bind.
Place the flours into a bowl with the baking powder, salt, curry powder and Oat flakes and mix. Add butter and rub it in until mixture resembles bread crumbs. Add a small amount of milk to bind the mixture together. Roll out on a floured board to about 3mm (1/8 inch) and cut out rounds. Place the biscuits on a greased baking tray and bake at gas mark 4 or 350F (180C) for 15-20 minutes until slightly browned.
You could add grated cheese and less milk for a cheesy oat cake or you could add finely chopped raisins and a tsp of sugar for a sweet oat cake.
If you want to mill oats to make flour, make sure you sow hull-less oats.
