Equivalent Input Noise is a microphone spec that may seem confusing. What is it an equivalent to? Is it really a big deal? Can't we just digitally process out bad sound? In this video I'm going to explain EIN in a very simple way.
Please note that some of the links above are affiliate links and if you purchase something using one of these links, you'll pay the same price that you'd find on Amazon if you looked it up yourself but Amazon will pay me a small referral fee for sending you there to make a purchase.
When you shoot your own personal projects out in the real world with a limited or nonexistent budget, you still want to get the best sound possible. Spending your last $50 on a lavalier microphone after buying a camcorder, DSLR or mirrorless camera may leave you feeling like your sound will have that sterile, in your face closeness a lav provides but that's not necessarily the case.
In this video I'll show you a technique that will help your audio sound more like it's in the real world as opposed to from a lav mic. It only takes a few short minutes too.
In case you're wondering... yes, you do want low background noise in your tracks but I ask you... would you rather your tracks sound like a lav or more like it looks? Your choice of course and maybe you won't always want to use this technique but it's something to keep in your back pocket.

During Memorial Day weekend 2021 Gordon Moore was generous enough to give us a tour of Lectrosonics. You can watch that video here:
https://youtu.be/RqohxDt-w8A
A few minutes into the video, during a tour of Gordon's office, we had to cut camera for a few minutes to discuss a new product that was not ready to be announced just yet. As of now, the world has been introduced to IFBlue so this footage is clear to be released.
IFBlue is a brand that Lectrosonics created to offer Lectrosonics designed products at a lower price. Listen to Lectrosonics President Gordon Moore tell us about IFBlue. For more information: http://www.IFBlue.com
Please note, this video was shot a few months prior to the announcement of IFBlue so there may have been changes made during that time.

Since I started this channel people have been asking me if I could recommend a deep discount (AKA cheap) wireless system. My answer has always been "no" in the past but that's all changed now that I've tried the Movo WMX-20-Duo 2 channel selectable frequency UHF wireless system. How good can a wireless system that costs only $125 per channel all inclusive wireless system be? You're about to find out.
I'm also including professional best practices for using UHF wireless systems. These are especially important to optimizing the performance of discount UHF wireless systems.

With a release date of October 8, 2019, Deity welcomes the a new microphone to it's professional microphone line. The S-Mic 2S is a short interference tube version of the S-Mic 2 designed for low profile circumstances. If you're interested in a shotgun microphone less that 6 inches long that is resistant to RF, you'll be interested in the S-Mic 2S.
Please note: Shotgun microphones aren't ideal in sound reflective environments. The testing in this video may not be considered fair and that may be partially true but it represents a worse case scenario. If this mic works great here, they can work great anywhere.
Anyone can talk about microphones or test them in controlled environments but how will they function in extremely difficult circumstances? In this video I test the S-Mic 2S is some very tough places.

Cinecom.net is a YouTube channel and website that produces videos for filmmakers. After seeing a clip from this channel in a previous reaction video, I spotted a "5 Sound Hacks" video and decided I had to react to it. That brings us to now. Enjoy.

To Cinecom.net: I respect what you've built and applaud your recovery from theft in early 2023 but if you're going to create sound videos, you need to teach sound PROPERLY.

Cameras continue to get smaller and simpler while our sound packages continue to get bigger and more complex. To make it even more fun, the expectations of the sound department continues
to expand. Soon we may reach a point where production is going to be waiting on sound but that is not today. Today it's more often considered lack of preparation if sound asks for a few
seconds. When we need it, we need it but try not to get to the point where you need it. But why? Sound Speeds!

The DP, or Director of Photography, is the person on a film set in charge of camera angles and set lighting. He/she works with the DIT and post production to make sure the show looks the way he or she believes it should. Not only is this the person that controls the look of the show, it's someone the boom operator doesn't want to make mad.
In recent years the lighting game has changed. Large, hot light sources are being replaced by smaller LED fixtures. DPs have different skillsets when lighting with them. Some will light you out because they don't know how to properly light with them and some know exactly what to do. In this video I'll discuss what you, as a boom operator, needs to know about modern vs old school lighting.
