38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42)
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we must learn to strike the balance between action and contemplation. We must be active contemplatives or contemplatives in action. We cannot focus on one at the expense of the other. We must be active in ministry, but at the same time, we must not neglect our relationship with God. Also, we cannot spend all our time in contemplation without doing anything to serve the Lord in ministry. We must strike the proper balance.

Main Idea: “As disciples, we must be both active and contemplative.” (“Bilang mga disipulo, kailangan tayong maging aktibo at handang magnilay-nilay.”)
How do we strike the proper balance?
Three Reminders
1. Discern the best time for each.
2. Don't judge others who are doing what they want.
3. Do either one with the right attitude.

The need for approval is a common human need that often stems from an unhealthy desire for validation and acceptance from others. However, it can often lead to compromise and dishonesty instead of speaking the truth in love. Many people do not share their faith because of their unhealthy need to be constantly liked by others. Like Jesus, we must learn to confess the truth regardless of its outcomes.

Text: Psalm 34:1-22
The Lord wants us to grow in our faith. He wants us to become mature. This is the reason why He allows trials and tests in our lives. Becoming mature is, of course, a difficult process. He is teaching us how to be humble and teachable over time. Often, we resist because of our pride and self-centeredness. But over time, if we learn obedience through our suffering, we become more like Christ. Only in this way can we glorify the Lord.

Central Idea: “When faith is tested, humility is expected.” (“Kapag nasusubukan ang pananampalataya, inaasahan ang pagpapakumbaba.”)
How do we respond to God with humility regardless of the situation?
Three Ways
1. Bless God with your praise (vv.1-3).
2. Honor God with your testimony (vv.4-7).
3. Trust God with your submission (vv.8-22).

How do we avoid temptation? We can learn from our Master Jesus as He faced His own temptations in the garden of Gethsemane.

The heart of our Savior is for Christian unity. Yet, as we see today, we confront the stark reality of disunity and division among Christians. We cannot experience spiritual revival apart from true Christian unity. The apostle Paul, in Ephesians 4:1-16, offers us a roadmap to how we can pursue this. This urgent need for unity is not new; it has persisted throughout the history of the Church. Today, let us look into God's Word and seek answers on how to maintain unity, so that we may shine as a beacon of Christ's love in a fractured world.

Sorrow is inevitable in life. It will come even though we don't want it. But joy is a gift from God. It is also a discipline. Richard Foster calls the Sabbath a "discipline of celebration." In other words, we must choose to delight during the Sabbath.

Making Plans with God's Guidance | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
22 This is why I have often been hindered from coming to you. 23 But now that there is no more place for me to work in these regions, and since I have been longing for many years to visit you, 24 I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to see you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while. 25 Now, however, I am on my way to Jerusalem in the service of the Lord’s people there. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the Lord’s people in Jerusalem. 27 They were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in the Jews’ spiritual blessings, they owe it to the Jews to share with them their material blessings. 28 So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this contribution, I will go to Spain and visit you on the way. 29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the full measure of the blessing of Christ. (Romans 15:22-29)
Many Christians today find themselves in wrong situations because they do not listen to the Lord when they make plans. They just make plans and then they ask the Lord to bless their plans. Consequently, God gives them over to their plans, which they are already determined to do regardless of what God says. They do not receive God's guidance because they do not ask for it and they are not willing to listen to Him even if He gives it to them by His grace.
