Over spring break, my mom and I travelled to Virginia to tour the homes of some early American presidents including Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, James Monroe's Highland, and James Madison's Montpelier. It was a fun week-stay being able to step inside the places that our country's founding fathers once lived in!

LYRICS:
I thought that you died out
Few vows are engraved in stone
My heart had been blacked out
But you felt like home
So tell me what you want, tell me what you need
Let me pay you back, don’t mind rolling up my sleeves
I’m destined to be with you
Show me all your scars, show me what you’ve seen
We can start again, start until we feel washed clean
I’m destined to be with you
A vision with soft eyes,
An angel with hands to touch
I’ve used up my war cries
Found peace in your love
So tell me what you want, tell me what you need
Let me pay you back, don’t mind rolling up my sleeves
I’m destined to be with you
Show me all your scars, show me what you’ve seen
We can start again, start until we feel washed clean
I’m destined to be with you
I can feel the love, and I can see the ring
It was more than I was envisioning
So tell me what you want, tell me what you need
Let me pay you back, don’t mind rolling up my sleeves
I’m destined to be with you
Show me all your scars, show me what you’ve seen
We can start again, start until we feel washed clean
I’m destined to be with you

It started to snow. For the first time in a long while...
So I went outside and took it all in.
Then, I sat down at the piano and came up with a melody for the occasion.
This is the finished product. I hope that watching it is as therapeutic for you as it was for me. :)
P.S. I also did a blog post about how it finally snowed in our town! Check it out at this link: http://www.madisontaylor.co/2016/01/i...

This past Saturday, I made some wonderful memories exploring the fall-transformed city of Lynchburg with my mother and sister while they were visiting me at my university. We started off our trip by walking down some of the old historic streets for refreshing afternoon exercise. We were so grateful that it had turned out to be a beautifully sunny day!
For lunch, we enjoyed browsing through the local Lynchburg Community Market and indulged in a few treats including vegan pumpkin pie and mulled hot cider. Since we were close to the James River, we walked to one of the bridges that extended across it and found lots of locks left by couples. We were close enough to the train tracks to hear a train rolling in and blaring its distinct yet oddly calming whistle.
We concluded our Lynchburg tour with two more scenic walks, the first one at Blackwater Creek Trail and the second being a hike up to the LU Monogram. It was nice to find a gazebo above the monogram at the top of the hill where we could rest and enjoy the overlooking view of the rustic orange-shaded city. I hope you enjoy this little montage that I put together! It was surely a day with my loved ones that I’ll always cherish in my heart and smile back on every fall.
Thanks for watching! If anything, I hope that this video inspires you to explore more of your local area during the fall season. Happy November!

LYRICS:
Your eyes, dark enough to hypnotize
Your hands, wrapped around mine felt so right
Sometimes, I will simply close my eyes
And you will wipe away the tears I couldn’t hide
But you had your pride
Why ya gotta be so darn stupid
Why you gotta rely on Cupid to make me fall
Right back to you
Why you gotta make up excuses
Why you gotta make me feel useless
Piercing rain, but back like morning dew
Yeah, I didn’t think that’d be you
You said, it’s rare to find someone like you
But then, drifting off you found somebody new
When I stayed true
Why ya gotta be so darn stupid
Why you gotta rely on Cupid to make me fall
Right back to you
Why you gotta make up excuses
Why you gotta make me feel useless
Piercing rain, but back like morning dew
Yeah, I didn’t think that’d be you
Let’s go back to the evergreen
It’s just you and me, and our crazy dreams
Let’s go back to the darkened sea
Living out of a fantasy
Let’s go back to the evergreen
Go back to the evergreen
Now it’s only me, and a worn-out scene
Why you gotta be so darn stupid
Why you still on Cupid to make me want to
Come back to you
Well that’s just not how I do
Yeah, I didn’t think that’d be you

Giving you a tour of all of the flowers blooming around our house. My mother loves to garden in the springtime. I've started to appreciate the different flowers that she plants every year, so I thought I'd share some of the gardens with you! Hope you enjoy the little tour. :)

Do you have any favorite flowers? My mom's favorites are peonies and lilies of the valley, and my grandmother's favorite flowers were four-o'clocks. As for me, I still haven't been able to decide since there are too many to choose from!

I was gifted some Wei of Chocolate this past Valentine's Day, and was more than happy to recommend them in this video! I love how each chocolate is infused with a blend of flower remedies, including jasmine which helps to maintain balance and healthy weight, and pink primrose which helps to boost creativity and clarity in the mind! Along with the "Super Dark" and "Himalayan Pink Salt" dark chocolate, I will be sure to try out the other flavors in the future!

How Long is Life - Original by Madison Taylor
“How long is life, but how short is strife.”
I wrote this song last year on a quiet autumn night. I had decided to sit down on my gray carpet and simply play my guitar while I aimlessly mused on the meaning of life. This song was the result of those deep and hopeful reflections.
I kept coming back to the lyrics to see if I should add a longer chorus or include a bridge so it could fit in with the modern structure of today's songs. But in the end, "How Long is Life" always felt like and was originally intended to sound like a soothing lullaby that didn't need many words to express its simple, yet profound message. Thus, I've finally made my peace with the song and have decided to share it with all of you.
I pray that your soul finds comfort in this song's improvised melodies and hopeful affirmation - that life may seem too brief and it may also seem too unbearably long, but thank God that strife will only last for a short while during our earthly lives. Soli Deo gloria!

The first time I had heard this song was when my family was watching the 2008 movie version of "Mamma Mia," and in the ending credits, Amanda Seyfried started to beautifully sing the song. So when my voice recital was coming up, and I had to choose a song to perform, this was the first one that came to my mind! It has a very light-hearted and cheerful melody, so I hope you enjoy the song as well!
