This old house - Far North of the Metroplex has had bees in it in the past. Unfortunately, they moved in again - probably 5-6 years ago.. and again in the last 2-3 years in the space between the electrical panel and the window A/C unit. A full day was spent removing the bees from two spaces in the home. Then the next morning, I returned to put the siding back onto the house. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvlY1Nq-zwU
Sewing new mesh onto the veil. Terrible when bees find their way into your suit! Use mosquito netting to repair your suit veil!

I removed the plastic from the hoop house WAY too late this spring. It was getting up to 140+ deg. inside, so nothing could grow. The plastic has been taken off, and folded and put away for the summer. This video is about 20-minutes of me putting on the 30% shadecloth, and the dogs running around & playing. (and yes - I mowed afterwards).

A long drive ahead, with two trailers of bees moving from the fall west Texas out-yard to the winter/spring out-yard at Wolfsong Farm. Not shown is the almost 400 mile trip made overnight.
Trailer prep (tire pressure, electrical wiring checks), bee hive checks, pollen patties fed to all surviving hives, and staging / leaving in the evening hours.
Daytime temperatures were in the mid to high 40's - so not many bees were flying - which allowed me to leave before sundown - and allowed easy movement of the trailer with a tractor the next morning.
This area of west Texas received WAY more rain than usual in the fall of 2018, so there was no access to the fields to retrieve the bees because of excessive mud - until this last week or so.

Initial video - intended for viewing by the out-of-state property owner.
Initial opening of drywall inside home. Comb seen in that space, as well as to the left. Observed comb behind the 2x12 - indicating that access would also be needed from the outside. MVI 1960

These bees have occupied the soffit space for at least 1 full year - probably moved in last spring from the looks of the comb. They were pretty testy today. I "got a feeling" that I needed to change gloves before starting - and I'm glad I did!

Same description as my other (shorter) video - this one is a bit "dry" - and shows the progression of the bees swarming to find their queen's scent - to settling down into the box. Not much vocal content - just a video to pass the time. These ladies were a treat to remove, and are doing well at the out-yard already.

I decided to move the trail cam after a few weeks in another spot. I could see that animals were there - but not necessarily close enough to be of any use.Now we see who parties in the bee yard at night.Rabbits, Feral Hogs, Coyote, Possum, Raccoons, Skunk... and mysterious eyes lit up in the night....

Honeybee removal from a tree. The tree is aged, and has some sizeable cavities within. Bees moved in at least a year ago (the comb I saw indicates longer). This type of scenario leaves (2) options for a live removal. (a) Trapout or (b) Forced abscond. The forced abscond was the right (and quick) choice for this tree.
And secondly: Forced absconds should be done in a slower manner than I did this one. Things I SHOULD have done: (a) - Go through the big cluster of bees that emerged, and FIND THE QUEEN - instead of vacuuming them all. (b) Don't vacuum the emerging cluster Sometimes that's the right tool - but honestly - this time - it wasn't - and I could have taken it more slowly. I own my mistakes, and hopefully learn from then and adjust my future actions from them.
Once moved to a hive box in the evening - the bees decided to combine with another small NUC of bees in the box next to them. I probably injured or killed the queen through the vacuum process. Unfortunately, it happens - and was preventable.
