Backpacking & Wild Camping | Sgor Gaoith in The Cairngorms.
Backpacking & Wild Camping Scotland - Sgor Gaoith, Cairngorms.

Out for another 24 hours to reach the summit of a few mountain tops I had yet to visit as well as returning to Sgor Gaoith. The mountain, Sgor Gaoith makes for one of the best and shorter ascents in the Cairngorms.

The route climbs through the beautiful native pinewoods of 'Glen Feshie' and then across the bare windswept upper slopes. However the highlight of this mountain is the peaked summit on the very edge of huge broken cliffs which plunge down to 'Loch Einich' far below, making surely one of the grandest perches in the eastern Highlands.

During the night the wind picked up significantly giving me a rude awakening around midnight, other than some flapping of the flysheet the tent performed admirably.

On this trip I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow YouTube filmmaker, 'Munros n Corbetts'. Was great to meet up in such a random place and afterwards regret not getting some film footage together. A really nice chap and recommend you check out his channel in the link below. (P.S, You were correct ;)

Despite their modest height, walking and climbing in the Scottish mountains may be made treacherous by their latitude and exposure to Atlantic weather systems. Even in summer, conditions can be atrocious; thick fog, strong winds, driving rain and freezing summit temperatures are commonplace. The content shown in my films are just my own opinions, thoughts and as a way to record my trips. Walking and hiking in the Scottish mountains & hills can be dangerous and is done entirely at your own risk.

Hazards you may encounter include:

Open moorland Terrain, few distinct landmarks, difficult navigation.
Crags and steep drops near summits.
Boggy areas.
River/Stream levels can increase markedly in one day.
Snow and ice on summits even in early summer.
Sudden changes in weather conditions.
Temperature decreases by 1 degree C for every 100m of ascent.

Note:

You are responsible for your own safety.
Are you fit enough to complete your chosen walk in the available time?
Ensure you have the correct clothing for the changeable Scottish weather.
Know where you are going on the walk and follow
