Discord: https://discord.gg/s24Vtmp After their initial victories at Wilson's Creek and Lexington in Missouri during the summer of '61, the Confederate armies in the Trans-Mississippi Theater begin to suffer from a series of setbacks in the region during the winter of '61 - '62. Hoping to reverse their fortunes in the theater, Major General Earl Van Dorn leads the Confederate Army of the West in an all-out offensive from northern Arkansas towards St. Louis, Missouri, to capture the strategically-important city and finally secure the crucial border state for the Confederacy. Standing in their way is the vastly-outnumbered Union Army of the Southwest, led by Brigadier General Samuel Ryan Curtis. When General Curtis chooses to make a stand against the numerically-superior Confederates, he establishes a defensive line at Pea Ridge in northwestern Arkansas. The resulting Battle of Pea Ridge, or Battle of Elkhorn Tavern, will help determine the fate of both Missouri and northern Arkansas for the remainder of the war. The government and military leaders of the Texas Revolution are divided on what to do next, so Governor Smith orders Houston, the Commander in Chief, to make a demonstration against the river town of Matamoros. As various units proceed south to the rendevous point, they take everybody and everything that can be spared. However, as the expedition proceeds south, infighting occurs amongst the officer corps, the council, and the leaders, killing the expedition before it can fully take off. Just as the Texians are sent into a state of confusion, Santa Anna, who has been preparing an army to march north into Texas, arrives in Bexar and pushes the skeleton garrison of Bexar back to the confines of the dilapidated compound called the Alamo. Realizing how outnumbered he is, William B Travis, the commander of the Alamo, writes a call for help to save him and his men from the much larger Mexican force in Bexar. For the moment, this tiny garrison has to hold out against a much larger foe. In the meantime, various units rally to march to their comrade's aid while the Texian government in Washington, TX declares independence from Mexico and forms the Republic of Texas.
