In this video I show you how save money by using a standard, after market power supply with the Hovabator 1588 which requires reverse polarity. Note that you need a 5.5x2.1mm DC jack. The 5.5x2.5mm jacks are very common and the adapters are cheaper, but they WILL NOT work. See below for links to products used in this video.

Checkout the upgrades to the Quail Aviary (Dome). I added SunTuf roofing, and opened up the sides a bit more. I also tried setting up a draining system for the waterer to prevent mud and poop build up. Since making the video I have abandoned that and instead have moved to the standard fountain waterers (see link below).

In this video I give a quick overview on how to build a small retaining wall out of pressure treated 4x4s. I mostly buried the first board, and used the structural screws (linked below) to fasten the boards together. In hindsight I probably would have gone with a bit longer screws.

In this video I share a way that I've found works really well for adding holes in a leather or faux leather belt. Link to tool used below:

If you want larger holes simply use a larger punch.

In total we hatched 18 out of 29 quail eggs (down from 42 after candling). Not the best results but not horrible considering this is our first attempt. The feed they are on now is Poulin Grain Gamebird Starter (28% protein). I would like to get them on an organic or soy free non-gmo feed, but the only options I have found with that high of a protein content are 5-6x more expensive.
