Today I spent $1 on a trip ( each way) to the Everglades using the Broward County bus number 88 which took me to Atlantic Blvd. and then I bicycled to the trailhead to get out to the Everglades. I never took my bicycle on a bus before. Broward County only charges seniors $1 to take a bus and they have a rack for bicycles on the front. I used an app on my phone to let me know when and where the buses were so I knew how long my weight would be and when I should show up at my bus stop. The bicycle fit on the bus rack very well. The rack was easy to lower and to raise. You can pay your fare with coins dollar bills prepaid tickets and also you can purchase tickets on an app for your phone. I paid with a dollar. The buses are air conditioned and reasonably comfortable. If passengers aren't talking loudly you can hear over the loudspeaker on the bus what street you are approaching to help you track where you are and when you should get off. You need to add your bicycle to the rack closest to the bus and not put your bike in the very front rack which makes it difficult for other people to add their bicycles. Very few people walk anywhere in Broward County so the paths and sidewalks we're mostly vacant. One other person got on the bus with a bicycle and when I was on a bus earlier last week I saw another person use a bicycle on the bus. Most of the buses will take either two or three bicycles. The Everglades trailhead is a popular location for people to ride their bicycles. Also, some people use it at night time to do stargazing with telescopes and some people carry small canoes up the hill and down into the canal and out into the Everglades to go fishing and bird watching etcetera. This location is becoming increasingly popular, and I was hesitant to publicize it even more. However, due to the fact there is zero shade anywhere I don't imagine it's going to be overrun anytime soon. I enjoyed this bus and bike trip and I'm going to do some more locations in South Florida showing how people can go places on the bus with their bicycles. I make bread in my bread machines that I get dirt cheap at the thrift stores. You can make pretty good bread in them for about 58 cents. I show my recipe that works in all the machines I have used and break down the costs. In the video, I forgot to add the yeast cost..The 1 pound of SAF yeast is $9 with shipping on Amazon. 1.5 tsp yeast weighs 4.25 grams. There are 454 grams in a pound. Yeast cost a little over 8 cents, total price of loaf will be 58 cents, not 50. I did not add the cost of electricity which should be very small. Right now, there are some very expensive $300-$600 bread machines for sale on eBay and amazon that look identical to the cheap $3-$6 ones you find in the thrift stores. I will do a quick video later this week showing the high priced machines you can keep an eye out for and maybe you will get lucky at your thrift store. I have about 200 videos on YouTube.
